This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Do you tell her to watch her feet? I do with Bay... I look for roots and rocks and say “pick up your feet!” and goose him a little if he’s stargazing.
But you know... tripping was a symptom of Bay’s Navicular.. he tripped and fell on trail and that started us looking more closely at his soundness... it might be lots of things, even showing that could be better... Do you think it’s a soundness/weakness, or is she just not paying attention?
err... showing = shoeing
Yeah - I’ve seen that run of hers before.
My friend has an Arab gelding and he does the same thing. She said a lot of them do trip alot. Maybe its a desert thing.. :) Mostly, she is gawking around or getting in a big hurry. The trails in the woods are not the best cleared and the 4-wheeler ruts don’t help either on other parts.
Heh... that’s it :~)
Well, I don’t know if it’s an Arab thing to trip, but I suppose stargazing and maybe not paying attention might be. ;~)
I’ve pretty much stayed away from anything that’s a hot topic. In fact, you’ll find that 99% of my posts are right here on this thread.
HA! So did I! :-)
How old is Jody? I’d think of her age before I’d think of navicular, personally. I’d guess that she’s tripping because she’s not watching where she puts her feet. When I take Oliver out, he constantly trips over tree roots and rocks and whatnot, and it’s not a soundness issue, it’s a laziness issue. Has she had her feet done? Is she particularly pigeon toed, etc etc?
The people who looked at Bodie are coming back tomorrow to ride some more. I will take them on a trail ride.
:) The one thing I’ve learned about internet boards is that the guy that owns the site rules.
Isn’t that the truth. And, the janitor and the mailman might be wrong but they sure are zealots, whatever view they do take.
:) very cool - a horse with a definate personality. He’s nice looking too.
Great pictures. Looks like a fun horse.
MT: Good luck showing Bodie tomorrow.
I rode Harley this evening for about an hour. We did lots of trotting and loping. He seems to be doing fine.
We are getting some lightening right now, so maybe we will get some rain.
Becky
Yikes I hope so... lightning is no fun when it’s dry out.
I think we're going Sunday.... with Tiff on Tell :~)
I had an idea today... posted my theory on the horse forum... Hot shoeing versus cold shoeing - Why?
