The ***OFFICIAL*** Weekend Singles' Thread - (April 13th - 15th)
April 13, 2007 | DollyCali

Posted on 04/13/2007 5:53:23 PM PDT by DollyCali

How do these words/phrases grab you ? Any first hand experiences to share?

Love (lust?) at first Sight..

Forgiveness..

Lets just be friends..

Soul mates..

Friday the Thirteenth

Hi there Freeper Friends & TGIF! . Little hectic (understatement) on the home front.. I thought originally I would post tonight the thread I had for 4 weeks ago when my computer decided to go on vacation BUT it needed a lot of work & I had a full/crazy day & needed to go to funeral parlor this evening so just thought I would open up the conversation with some phrases that can be good, painful, wonderful or agonizing to singles or married folks as well. ..

All of these have caused some turmoil in my life & I have found that at any age these things can titillate your soul.

(Oh, and I don’t know if you noticed, but I changed my tag line for the first time in years).

Nancy,

I was the most shocked when her eyes finally cleared. I was certain that she would be blind for life and would forever be eating baby food from a dropper. When I finally saw improvement and then she started seeing, I was amazed. It's incredible to see a little animal recover.

as usual, you share well thought out ideas & you are SO right.

semantics here are bad in the dating scene. and so is the absence of honesty & so is the real depth of self awareness of a lot of people

If they don’t truly know themselves (as separate from the princess/prices of the world) how can they ever relate in a worthwhile manner to a soul mate?

I have a LOT of really close male friends & early on their was an attraction BUT NOT a romantic attraction, which is quite different. Age here again is not impt & also because you are NOT playing the dating game, honesty is there & friendship can bloom.

I think one dishonest thing some women do is date a guy because no one else is around at the moment. They KNOW they really aren’t interested in a depth relationship with this person and are still checking out the gallery, but “for now” will date someone else to keep their life interesting.

I dislike when there is this disregard of the other’s feelings.

I think often it is best to say something like

You know I truly do enjoy your company but dont see us heading toward a romantic life.. if you want to continue to share time & friendship with that in mind, I would enjoy it also.

But only say that if one means it...

Thanks Dolly. The difference in head sizes is just in the way I took the pictures. I wasn't trying to create the effect, but it just happened. Mostly, she's just filled out in the month or so that I've been working on her.

Leopard geckos do stop growing after a while. She'll never grow any longer or have any bigger bone structure. Ultimately, I hope she'll regain her weight until she looks like my friend's other one.

This is Shy.

Good post...

IMHO, people should be upfront. Call a spade a spade.

Following up on your kind remarks...

This *singles* stuff is harder than I imagined it would be.

I have met and had the opportunity to go out with several men, but, nice as they have all been, the special rapport everybody looks for when dating isn’t always there.

It’s that special *something* that makes you take special notice of someone and makes you want to talk to and see that person again/get to know that person better...

It just doesn’t happen as easily or as readily as I guess we would all like.

Glad you are okay after the storms.. It looked like a powerful system. heading our way & will hopefully break up a bit beforehand.

Good to see you

I know exactly how you feel. I also know that nothing I can say will make it feel better. I wish there were something more or better to say.

Krunkygirl is a southern girl(well florida girl)

When I lived in Florida a lot of the people did NOT like to be referred to as southern people. They wanted to be referred to as Floridians. I think they thought being called a “southerner” was like being called a red neck perhaps?

welcome!

Those are all right...

Lunch Box (aka Irish Carbomb)—now that’s where it’s at...

Pint of Guinness
Shot glass: 2/3 Jameson, rest Baileys

Drop the shot glass and chug like heck...8^)

sounds interesting.

I recall my dad & his buddies used to like a “shot in the beer” as they called it.

what you describe is about the same but a better quality.

For the longest time I thought they mixed them..yuk

No. Thanks...

It needs to be said. I’ve dealt with that for most of my existence here. IMHO, it’s more damaging and insulting than just simply saying, “I want nothing to do with you”

At least then, I could give them props for at least being honest.
