Thread Number Two
Perhaps Anna had built up a resistance to the other drugs and decided to change to something more potent. As KE said, "I need something to knock her out."
I am posting this to explain what schedule IV drugs are (so that folks don't confuse what scheduled IV means)
Schedule IV drugs
Findings required:
(A) The drug or other substance has a low potential for abuse relative to the drugs or other substances in schedule III.
(B) The drug or other substance has a currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.
(C) Abuse of the drug or other substance may lead to limited physical dependence or psychological dependence relative to the drugs or other substances in schedule III.
Control measures are similar to Schedule III. Prescriptions for Schedule IV drugs may be refilled up to five times within a six month period.
Drugs on this schedule include:
Benzodiazepines, such as alprazolam (Xanax), chlordiazepoxide (Librium), diazepam (Valium), flunitrazepam (Rohypnol) (Note that Rohypnol is not used medically in the United States, and some states have placed it in Schedule I under state law.);
Zolpidem (sold in the U.S. as Ambien);
Dextropropoxyphene (sold in the U.S. as Darvocet);
Long-acting barbiturates such as phenobarbital;
Some partial agonist opioid analgesics, such as pentazocine (Talwin);
Certain non-amphetamine stimulants, including pemoline and the pseudostimulant modafinil.
Sadly, the tabloids speculate that Anna would have survived had she been properly treated in a hospital, as opposed to self-medicating.
IF Anna had been taken to the hospital, what would be the medical treatment there as opposed to what KE was doing? Medical Expert? Anyone? Bueller?
Was Taz checking the Internet for possible "self-diagnosis" and "self-help" remedies for Anna's condition? Why didn't ANY of the MEDICAL people with her realize what was wrong with her? Did KE know about the abscess that she was responsible for and therefore tried to get drugs to make it "go away"? So many questions, so few answers.
Is this the sequence?
The ME performs and autopsy, issues a report with cause and manner and whether an inquest is required, right?
Only heard that HK$ could not leave the Bahamas until he testifies at Daniel's inquest.
The only thing that didn't change was HKS telling Moe to go save Anna, apparently while just standing there on the poolside decking yelling orders. I'm sure he was put out with her, since, as Moe told us, "Miss Anna wasn't allowed in the water."
I can't imagine NOT having an inquest in Anna's death. It's a given.
Chloral Hydrate acts as a depressant on the central nervous system, it has sedative effects similar to those of barbiturates and benzodiazepines.
Legally available as syrups or soft gelatin capsules, a doctor prescribed dose of 500 mg to 1 gram of chloral hydrate will take effect in about half an hour, and will induce sleep in about an hour.
Sleep induced by the drug will usually last four to eight hours and the user will feel very few after effects, but continued use of the drug can result in addiction if taken for months at a time.
Chloral Hydrate is also known as Trichloroacetaldehyde Monohydrate, and is used medically as a sleeping pill. Its molecular formula is CCl3CH(OH)2. It is a transparent crystalline compound with a melting point of 57º C (135º F).
Overdose symptoms may include:
deep stupor
dilation of blood vessels
fall in blood pressure
fall in body temperature
slowed respiration
In a severe overdose, death usually occurs within 5 to 10 hours.
The drug is used recreationally by a small number of people, usually because there is no other drug available, or because it is cheap.
The effects are similar to downers and sleeping pills. Minor euphoria, relaxation, etc. at small doses. Tiredness, slurred speech, screwed up thought process in larger doses.
I saw interview where the PI specifically said that Daniel was worried about Stern.
Exactly!
If ANS was in the physical and mental condition described, she was in no position to refuse EMS transportation to a hospital.
According to previous reports (MOE?) the Sternoids were not supposed to call 911 - and that is the big question - WHY NOT?? That could be the reason KE was hired - to take care of 911 type emergencies. She surely performed beyond all expectations.
Wish we knew. KE blabs on and on about useless stuff but clams up about anything medically important concerning ANS. "She had an omelet." "She shampooed her hair." "She felt better."
All the while entertaining herself with some little private joke going on in her mind that's making her almost laugh.
The wet t shirt contest is from the year before--not while she was pregnant.
The Thompson/Shellys are good people--they loved Daniel and he loved them.
Well, in 1864 Moe couldn't have gotten away with calling her "Baby Girl."
What side effects may I notice from taking chloral hydrate?
Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:
confusion
difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
extreme irritability or unusual excitement
fever, chills, or sore throat
hallucinations, nightmares
irregular heart beat
skin rash and itching (hives)
slurred speech
slow reflexes
staggering, tremors
unusual weakness or tiredness
Chloral Hydrate Suppositories
What do I need to watch for while I use chloral hydrate?
Chloral hydrate suppositories are not generally for use on a regular basis.
After using chloral hydrate you may get a residual hangover effect that leaves you drowsy or dizzy. Until you know how chloral hydrate affects you, do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs mental alertness.
To reduce dizzy or fainting spells, do not sit or stand up quickly, especially if you are an older patient. Alcohol can increase possible unpleasant effects. It is not safe to drink alcohol while using chloral hydrate.
While you are using chloral hydrate, do not take any medicines for hay fever, allergies, or pain without asking your prescriber or health care professional for advice.
Do Not Fart for at least half an hour after taking this medicine.
I don't see how they could come up with accidental overdose with all the medical people she had around her!
Did you add that last line? LOL
What I find hard to believe is that she was in excruciating pain and didn't take any painkillers for it! She lived on painkillers - why would this be the one time in her life that no painkillers were found in her system?
Now I still think Dr. E should be to blame too - she was with Anna and she ordered up the chloral hydrate.
nope that was on the same page
"""The Thompson/Shellys are good people--they loved Daniel and he loved them"""
From the Thompson/Shelly interviews and other videos, I get the impression that they earned their fortune, "the old fashioned way". Their wealth also propelled them into social circles they were ill-prepared to handle; especially ANS' volatile personality, problems and her "new" friends.
If someone is bleeding, you can help them. If someone is mentally unstable, it is much harder to help - you don't know where the pain is, much less understand it.
