That's what I'm thinking. She probably didn't want any income on paper so she could avoid paying debts and such. Did she still owe on that Sexual Harrassment suit or did the bankruptcy take care of that? I also think that in one of those Marshall suits she had to pay for appealing the will and losing as did Marshall's son.

Welcome! If you look around, the best discussions on a lot of topics are on FreeRepublic. Appreciate the compliment.

SOMEWHERE in the discussions is that HKS met ANS when she visited her publicist who was in the same building as his or Rale's law office. Can't remember exactly, but it's here somewhere.

Here is a spot to check:

A Judge has every right to research a case. Remember, he said in court: "You came knockin' at my door..."

I just love it that old man Marshall's name is "Howard". Imagine that!

I don't think my phone call to Opri had anything to do with what she said on The Line Up.

All that came out of my brief call to her was that she confirmed they all were aware of the UK story and that she could not give out any comments or information related to it. She was to the point but pleasant during the brief call I made to her.

I live in So Cal, and there's all kinds of cellophane bagged spices, herbs, etc in all the grocery stores. I don't know if it's the real thing, but I've seen "saffron" for under a buck for a very small amount.

I've never bought it, so I don't know the quality or taste.

Do you "dunk" chicken strips in a sauce??

Arroz con pollo doesn't have saffron. I take a teaspoon of annatto seeds and add them to a small amount of corn oil. Be careful because those seeds will pop and burn you! After the oil is a deep red color, fish the seeds out with a slotted spoon. Add a cup of long grain white rice, and saute in the oil until rice is opaque. I use Knorr chicken and tomato bullion cubes in 2 cups of water. Tightly cover and cook for 20 minutes over low heat.

That's just the rice part of the dish. I add cooked, cubed chiken with tomatillos, cheese and green onions, and bake until cheese is melted. 300 degrees, or adjust to altitude and/or oven. I've never used saffron, but now I'm interested in learning about it...

ok...do I have this right?

We've been told that Anna hooked up with Stern in Calif. when she filed for bankruptcy, right? After she lost the Marshall case in Texas? So, when was it that Stern took the papers that the Texas judge admonished him for?

After reading this, I wonder how extensive the assets received from JHM were.   Also noted is the modesty of her funeral compared to the one she arranged for JHM.

FROM THE ARCHIVES: Anna Nicole Smith Buries Husband (1995)

Excerpt:

Last July, Howard granted his son power of attorney over the family fortune. (Howard is also survived by another son, J. Howard Marshall III, who has played no public role in the controversy.) In February, after Howard first entered the hospital, a Texas court also made Pierce his father's legal guardian. From that point on, court records bulge with claims and counterclaims about love, money and consummation.

Among other things, Pierce maneuvered to prevent Smith from receiving title to a million – dollar ranch where she lives with her son; Smith responded that Howard had planned to give her the ranch outright. Pierce, sounding suspicious, asked Smith in another document to identify, "by date and occasion, all instances wherein you and J. Howard Marshall II spent the night in the same home and/or room after your marriage." Her lawyer responded that "Plaintiff and Mr. Marshall have done so in Los Angeles and at the ranch in Cypress , Texas ."

Pierce severed Smith's $50,000-a-month allowance and accused her of defrauding Howard "by way of excessive gifts or transfers of community property to strangers of the marriage, with some of whom she has had adulterous affairs." Smith responded with a letter from her husband that reads, in part, "I don't object to [Pierce] being guardian for my affairs, matter of fact he runs a lot of businesses and does very good. But he has no business coming between my wife and myself. She is the light of my life ...maybe he's a bit jealous...I have been a successful businessman, and I am not broke. I want my wife taken care of.''

For one long stretch, after a combination of legal wrangling and a doctor's orders, Smith was not allowed to visit her husband for more than half an hour each day, and never after 8 p.m. "After 30 minutes," her lawyer complained, "an armed officer indicates it is time for her to leave.

~ANS attorney is mentioned as Diana Marshall.

Southern dish "saffron rice" my mother-in-law used to make it. Saffron was always rather expensive compared to garlic Ha Ha.

Also cardamon or cardumon - that has to be the most expensive spice - can substitute cinnamon.

You should own a restaurant! Call it "AnnaLand" before it's copyrighted.

Not sure if this has been posted. From TMZ

E-Gads!! -- Judge Seidlin's E-Mails Under Scrutiny

Posted Mar 25th 2007 10:07AM by TMZ Staff
Filed under: Celebrity Justice
Judge Larry Seidlin, who decided where Anna Nicole's body would be buried, is now having his own body of evidence reviewed.

TMZ has learned Chief Judge Dale Ross of the Broward Courts has received a public records request for all e-mails sent to and from Judge Seidlin's office computer during the Anna Nicole Smith hearing.

Although we're not sure, typically these requests come from media organizations. Florida has a "sunshine law" that favors the disclosure of public information. One reason the computer might prove interesting is if the colorful judge was communicating with the media to strike an on-air deal after the hearing was complete, though we do not know that to be the case.

As far as we know, the Chief Judge has not ruled on the request.

I'm sure they didn't like Stern but in that video Ford Shelly says that they were helping to get her away from Larry. Which is odd because Larry is supposedly a family friend. Since her death they have changed their tone but I still think there's more to them that meets the eye. I wish they would address it. Knowing Anna she may have led them to believe that Larry was hitting her and was a control freak (HELLO HKS!!!). I think they are good people but like I said I do think there's more than meets the eye.

Or HKS gave them that impression.

and so does Anna not having any money! she had to have made a MINT during that time between Marshall and GUess? and Playboy, not to mention H&M - where did the money go? the interest alone on, say, 4 million would have been several hundred thousand a year, yes? (not a math major) didn't Stern go on record that he was her 'money manager' all these years??

Not to mention the Guess jeans add pulling out. She could have went on to bigger and better things minus drugs if she had the right people around her. But HKS is not the right person.

I'm beginning to think that he WAS Svengali more than I ever did. Jeez. Too bad Larry wasn't strong or capable enough to have him REMOVED.
