Southern dish "saffron rice" my mother-in-law used to make it. Saffron was always rather expensive compared to garlic Ha Ha.
Also cardamon or cardumon - that has to be the most expensive spice - can substitute cinnamon.
You should own a restaurant! Call it "AnnaLand" before it's copyrighted.
Annaland? Oy Vey!!! I've always toyed with the thought of doing small catering jobs, because I love working with food. We'll see.
Cardamon is extremely expensive. I see all kinds of odds n' ends in the Mexican food aisle. The one thing that eludes me is cake and bread. Someone mentioned champagne yesterday(day before?), and I was thinking of making a white cake flavored with perhaps rose water and champagne. Sort of like petit fours. Then I read that the baby had been rushed to the doctor, and it killed my thoughts about celebrations.
