Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
EGE: Sounds like the move is coming along nicely. Congrats.
OT: Tomatoes and peppers are growing, still a long way to go. We had the first fresh basil from the herb garden tonite in a curry. hmmmm. curry.
Second round of daylily madness is commencing, the tall ones in the second tier. Trimmed and staked the joepye. One hosta is bloomin, many more to go.
Had me a Lynchburg Lemonade at dinner...
We’re sure that Joshua was a fine ambassador for the ‘Route 66 Association’. “Get your kicks on Route 66”..
I was interested in seeing where CGC Bear was these days. Looked the Bear up and Fredsplace had a nice picture spread on one of the Bear’s postings.
Seems Bear has sunny Carribean duty. Quite a chage from the Bering Sea..Still I bet Capt. Healy would have felt right at home, especially the ‘clap ‘em in irons’ practice.
There was a picture of tricked out CG rem. 870, very nice indeed. hmmm.
Sigh.
I’ve got blooms on the tomatoes and little peppers on the hot pepper plants...nothing on the sweet peppers yet. My basil is growing but not yet big enough to harvest. There’s lots of growth on the squash and cucumbers and some blooms on the beans.
My daylillies must be taking the year off. I’ve got a couple that are just starting to send up flower stalks. Oh well....at least I can grow squash.
“so I had one more for dessert..”
A chocolate mint julep would be good right about now...
It comes in chocolate?
You know, there’s no Lemonade in a “Lynchburg Lemonade.”
You can work wonders with a metal lathe and a shotgun barrel. Some nice aftermarket stuff on the 870, too.
Gosh, Joshua has gotten so big!! Did he have fun manning the booth?
Heh. I’m using chocolate mint.
Really? What’s in it?
Jack Daniels
sweet and sour mix
triple sec
and something like Sprite or Sierra Mist
Huh. Never had any Jack Daniels. That sounds interesting.
Course, I’m never drinking again after Saturday night but in a month or so when I change my mind that sounds good.
My Daddy used to go shrimping every year, and after both our freezers were filled, he’d start bartering with friends. One year he traded shrimp for a half a beef. The man had butchered it, cut it into steaks, roast, and pkgs of ground beef; just yummy! Another time he traded for several bushels of field peas; Lordy those were good in the middle of winter with mayo and corn bread.
Say... that’s a ~lot~ nicer than the old beat-up surplus 870’s they gave us for boardings. :-)
Evenin’ folkses...
[sip]
Yup, one sure can trick those out. The barrel length, though, does present difficulties for us civilians.
Been meaning to convey my thanks on the recommendation for shock-blockers. Got a pair and I must say I’ve been impressed.
That looks like some series personal ordnance!
What’s shock-blockers, precious...? :-)
