Ok, so there are 50 stories out right now about the PS3, and I'm not going to ping all of them. I decided to just create a single thread and list them all:
Edwards acknowledges staff asked Wal-Mart for Playstation 3
Sony Playstation (PS3) sells for $3600.00 on eBay
John Edwards and Wal-Mart: Playstation Before Principle
Lemmings over a cliff(Playstation 3 Stampede)
We have lost our minds, $33,000 for a playstation 3
Armed Thugs Shoot 1 Person Waiting in Wal-Mart PlayStation Line
What?
No "Playstation 3 LIVE THREAD" ???
"This thing beats the Xbox 360 pretty well in most areas, except for available games. That will change in time though..."
Actually, I've heard that cross-platform games look the same on both consoles but are having framerate issues on the PS3. It's also been stated by the developers of "Assassin's Creed" that the Xbox 360 can handle better AI for the game than the PS3. Really, the PS3's power has been vastly overhyped.
My favorite fact about the PS3 coming out? PS2s will not go down to basement prices so I can finally get a PS2 and Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero 2.
When I hear people say, "Well, the reason you don't see a performance difference yet is that the games aren't made yet to take advantage of it." WHich is exactly why I can wait until the shortage ends before buying one.
It doesn't surprise me that cross-platform games would like similiar at this point in time. If that is true in 18 months, then the 360 will definitely have the advantage.
I'm always suspect of what developers say about platforms - you never know if they are acting as sock puppets for the manufacturers. lol

It's from Ubisoft, a company that develops cross-platform games (Assassin's Creed is for the PS3 as well).
The simple truth is that statements coming from neutral parties tend to indicate that the systems are roughly equal in power, with the 360 being much easier to code for. I've yet to see any evidence coming from any authoritative source that indicates that PS3 is as powerful as it is being made out to be. To put things into perspective- even if the PS3 is twice as powerful as it is being hyped as being, it still won't be 1/10 as powerful as Sony claimed that the PS2 was.
I have no kids, so I'm totally ignorant on the PS3 thing...did they only MAKE a few of them for the whole world? Won't there be more of them in another three months or so?
They've had production issues.
Fair enough. Time will tell for certain. :-)
On purpose? They threw away the instructions for construction? LOL What an insane way to spend $30,000.
"Won't there be more of them in another three months or so?"
Another 3 weeks, more likely, if not sooner.
I hope so! That would be ideal for Xena's Guy (who doesn't even lurk here, although he has been known to check out an IDF Hotties thread from time to time).
Well, between the Cell supposedly having low production yeilds and Sony not being able to procude Blu-ray diodes very easily, they're limited in how fast they can make them. They shoved Blu-ray in the thing to try to help out their format, but if Nintendo manages to sell a few million Wiis (it's relatively low-tech, so Nintendo should have no problem meeting it's numbes) while Sony is still trying to get enough PS3's out to meet demand, both the PS3 and Blu-ray could wind up sinking.

You mean to tell me these people can't wait just alittle while for the next bunch? Talk about the need for instant gratification... No wonder we can't finish the War in Iraq right.
Supposedly (key word) there are supposed to be 4 million shipped by the end of December. I think only 10% of that was released today, on opening day.
"No wonder we can't finish the War in Iraq right."
I think there is some correlation to that. Everything must be done and had NOW.
Nooo... I should have qualified that. Heck I am going to buy a PS3. I am talking about the people buying them on ebay for more than 3K. Good grief. Wait a few months and get one at cost.
Reminds me of the recent South Park episode where Cartman can't wait for the Wii to come out...hahah!
Well, isn't that interesting. The only things he buys are video games and women's panties!
(I guess the buyer could be female, but I doubt it.)
