IMHO a person who is tempted by gay sex is either gay or bisexual. Perhaps this would not be acceptable in his line of work.
Temptation is not acceptable? Amazing.
If the New Life Church or the National Association of Evangelicals wants to hire someone who is tempted by gay sex (i.e. who is gay), that's their business. I was implying that had they known, church leaders would probably at least have considered this unacceptably risky.
Gross
I can't believe this guy thinks we believe his lies. "I bought drugs but threw them away. I paid a gay prostitute but only had a massage...once a month for three years!!" The lies have to stop.
Very insightful and something I agree with completely.
shouldnt they look at Jones...did he sell drugs?
Of course they should look at Jones but Haggard is a pastor and leader and has a secret life. Hypocracy is the most damaging thing to Christianity than anything.
I attended New Life for years but my husband and I left because we felt the church had too much pride and that the ambiance was more 'entertainment' than anything else. If you want to read some appalling comments from Colorado Springs gay community, read the comments to this article:

I guess buying the drugs wasn't a sin?
This guy seems typical of the high profile evangelist/Super Pastor types. He needs to get down to reality; this episode has caused more harm to the body of Christ than if he had never gotten into the ministry.
Definately!
The Lord called them Nicolaitanes (Rulers over the people) and said that he hated them.

i agree i have never heard of him either and what he did or didn't do is between him and his wife oops I forgot that was only for Clinton and the Ex-Gov of New Jersey not saying what he has done is right and one should practice what they a pearching but Baker and Swaggart are back so anything is possible DEMS THIS WILL NOT CHANGE MY VOTE GIVE IT A REST now if this was a democrat that was a pastor the news media would tell us to mind our own business and remember the ex-gov of new jersey was also, against gay marriage and was lying too
Not really gay... Just a little bit gay.
Me too. There are exceptions, of course, but given the sorry state of religious organizations I'd rather rely on my own study of scripture.
Meth heads are big liars.

Haggard's approach is to fill the collection plate and rake off a nice share. Otherwise he wouldn't be able to pay for all that meth (and whatever else he's been snorthing).
This is so Clintonesque. It's a disease infecting the nation.
I've never heard of this guy but he certainly is not the one who sang those songs you mentioned. That was Merle Haggard, and while he might have had his own set of problems back in the day, he's not to be confused with Ted Haggard.
