Prayer Thread for the Election
Me | 11/2/06 | Knitting a Conundrum

Posted on 11/02/2006 9:13:31 PM PST by Knitting A Conundrum

Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people. A ruler who lacks understanding is a cruel oppressor; but he who hates unjust gain will prolong his days. Proverbs 28: 15, 16

With the election coming, I ask those of you who wish to to join me in prayer for the election.

O Lord, we come before you at a time when our enemies rail, when gleefully they plan how to destroy the things we have been taught by you to call good, and to enforce those things which you have named wrong as right. Be with us this election day, and may those who go to cast their ballots cast them as you would have us live, and not how the enemy would destroy us.

AMEN!

And thank you for continuing to lead us in this vital prayer effort.

Psalms 27:1
A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalms 27:2
When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell.

Psalms 27:3
Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war should rise against me, In this I will be confident.

Psalms 27:4
One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple.

Psalms 27:5
For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.

Psalms 27:6
And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.

Psalms 27:7
Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

Psalms 27:8
When You said, "Seek My face," My heart said to You, "Your face, LORD, I will seek."

Psalms 27:9
Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.

Psalms 27:10
When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the LORD will take care of me.

Psalms 27:11
Teach me Your way, O LORD, And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies.

Psalms 27:12
Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence.

Psalms 27:13
I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living.

Psalms 27:14
Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!
(NKJV)

May the Lord's will be done during this election cycle. I pray that God will defeat those who hate Him, and guide those who do His will. I pray that our leaders will stay in God's will throughout their terms of office. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Thanks for the thread KAC. We need daily prayers.

Midmorning election prayer bump

You shall appoint judges and officers in all your towns which the LORD your God gives you, according to your tribes; and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality; and you shall not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land which the LORD your God gives you.

Deuteronomy 16:18-20

Lord, help us know, we who are getting ready to choose our leaders, how much what is right and true counts in our choice, how we need to look at which candidate knows and follows the upright way, and which perverts truth to make an agenda feel comfortable.

Before we cast our ballots, please remove the blinders in our eyes and hearts and help us choose rightly, that we may be a nation built on truth and justice, following the will you have for our nation.

In the name of Jesus, our Lord, who came and walked with us, and died to set us free, we ask this.

Amen.

..."it is not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts."

Our Gracious Father, we Sing Forth Your Praise, as we Gather Before Thee, Safe in Thy Love. Hear our Prayers, O Father our King, as we Petition Thee for the Saving of our Land. You have Overwhelmed us with Blessings, our Lord, through the Abundance of Thy Grace. Take not Thy Favor Away, on Account of the Multitude of our Sins. We Pray for Nationwide Revival, a Movement of Thy Spirit in the Hearts of all men. We Ask that Souls be Reaped for Thy Kingdom, and not for Judgement, as we Richly Deserve. "The Lord our God is Merciful, and Pardons those who have Rebelled Against Him." (Dan.9:9)

We Plead that You would Usher In an Era of Truth, a Time when men would Cease to Speak Lies. Open the Eyes of the Deceived, that they will Vote for the Preservation of Life. Put into the Multitudes Hearts, O God, the Desire to Save and to Care for the Unborn; Instill into our Souls a Holy Hatred for All Sin. Rescue us, our Shepherd-King, and Help us to Want to Obey and Follow Thy Ways.

We Ask that You would Fill our Mouths will Your Praise, and Make our Nation to Reverance Thy Holy Word. "Now I Praise and Glorify and Honor the King of Heaven, the Judge of All, Whose Every Act is Right and Good; for He is Able to Take those who Walk Proudly and Push them into the Dust!" (Dan.4:37) Save us, our Loving Lord, and Cause us to Worship and Glorify Thy Name. Through the Grace of the King, we Ask All Things, amen.

Afternoon election prayer bump!

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan. Proverbs 29:2

"The Spirit of the LORD speaks by me,
his word is upon my tongue.
The God of Israel has spoken,
the Rock of Israel has said to me:
When one rules justly over men,
ruling in the fear of God,
he dawns on them like the morning light,
like the sun shining forth upon a cloudless morning,
like rain that makes grass to sprout from the earth.

But godless men are all like thorns that are thrown away; for they cannot be taken with the hand;
but the man who touches them arms himself
with iron and the shaft of a spear,
and they are utterly consumed with fire."

ii Samuel 23: 2-4,6-7

Lord, we praise your name for showing us what is good and what is evil. Help us to choose the good on Election Day, that all over the nation men and women with good heart and intent will choose the light over the dark, the righteous over the evil, and the true over the false.

Guide our hands, our feet and our hearts.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Thanks for the invitation to prayer. I am happy to join in with all of you.

I pray, Lord, that you give us good prolife men and women in this election, so that the right to life may be restored to every single soul in this great nation, from conception to natural death.

I ask it in the Holy Name of Jesus. Amen.

Evening Election Prayer Bump

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent. If they say, "Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood, let us wantonly ambush the innocent; like Sheol let us swallow them alive and whole, like those who go down to the Pit; we shall find all precious goods, we shall fill our houses with spoil;
throw in your lot among us, we will all have one purse" --
my son, do not walk in the way with them, hold back your foot from their paths; for their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed blood.

- Proverbs 1:7, 10-16

Lord, open our eyes to the deceits that those who despise your right and your wrong would confuse us with. Help us stand firm to the plan you would have us follow. Help us remember the plight of the unborn, of those unable to protect themselves from the death others would thrust upon them because they were unable to speak for themselves or were ill or ill-formed. Help us see through the lies made in the name of fairness, which are actually deceits designed to rip apart our country.

Lord guide our hands, and help us choose wisely, this election and in all our dealings.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS ...

1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.

2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.

3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he'll take and shield thee;
thou wilt find a solace there.

Unto You, O Lord, we flee, for our hearts are greatly troubled at what we see and hear. Grant unto us, Merciful Father, that shield and refuge, that we might boldly and confidently lay our petitions before You, knowing that You are our help in time of need.

The enemy has become emboldened ... he makes no pretense. Whatever he touches has become perverted, and his time is spent in glorifying perversion. Some of our countrymen proclaim agendas that insist that right is wrong and wrong is right. We are scorned and admonished that our eyes do not see what is so clear to the children of God. Touch the darkened heart, O God, that light may enter ... that sin would be renounced and the Blood of Christ would be applied. Breathe a cleansing breath upon the land, Merciful Father, that this nation would not choose the path of darkness, but that we choose to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with You. May our votes reflect this decision, O God ... and may this decision resound from shore to shore, from East to West and North to South. Hold us securely in the palm of Your hand, for without You, Creator God, we are nothing ... can do nothing ... and will come to nothing, yet by the Grace of God, we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us. Blessed be Your name, now and forevermore, Amen ...
