Prayer Thread for the Election
Me | 11/2/06 | Knitting a Conundrum

Posted on 11/02/2006 9:13:31 PM PST by Knitting A Conundrum

Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people. A ruler who lacks understanding is a cruel oppressor; but he who hates unjust gain will prolong his days. Proverbs 28: 15, 16

With the election coming, I ask those of you who wish to to join me in prayer for the election.

Most High God

You raise up nations--You bring down nations

Our very republic and existence comes only by Your Hand

We come with complete dependency upon Your Mercy

That You may grant this nation one more season of grace

Not that we might rebel against You but that we might honor you in all areas of life

We ask for Your protection from our enemies, both foreign and domestic

If in You infinite Wisdom You see fit to chasten this republic--Father--we ask for a measure of grace which Jeremiah and Daniel received in their times--to enable us to serve and honor God in all circumstances.

But Father if we find favor in Your eyes once more, we ask that Your Spirit would convict the citizens of this land of sin, righteousness and judgement--that Your Name may be honored, and another Great Awakening come.

In all things we thank You for Your greatest gift:  The Lord Jesus Christ--Who will return one day soon to bring Your Kingdom and to subdue all Your enemies.

Until that time, Lord, grant us the peace which surpasses knowledge--to accept the Sovereign Will of the Lord God Almighty --in Whose hand dwells our times and our very breath

 In the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord and the Messiah of Israel

Amen

A special prayer:

O Lord,

Be with each person watching the returns here at FR and give them the peace they need to get through the night.

amen!

Joining you in Prayer this evening so that we may put a stop to the evil that surrounds us in it's many different faces...from the vile practices performed on the un-born to the taking of life of those that cannot take care of themselves even when the family begs to have a say! The evil that will hit us again should we ever let our gaurd slip will surely accelerate it's plans if this happens...

Unto You, O Lord, we return with hearts of praise, for You have led Your people through this day. May it be, Merciful Father, that You have heard our plea for mercy, and that You have stayed the hand of evil yet a little while, that we might continue under righteous human authority. May those who emerge victorious in this election be men and women after Your own heart, who seek Your counsel, who walk in Your ways, who will inspire us in our daily lives.

We await word, O Lord, not with fear and trembling, but with confidence that Your purposes cannot be thwarted, Your justice cannot be denied, Your people cannot be plucked from the security of Your hand.

Blessed be Your Name, now and forevermore, Amen ...

Trust and never doubt, Jesus will always bring you out -
He's never failed me yet!

I will sing of God's mercy
Every day, every hour, he brings me power;
I will sing, and give thanks to Thee
for all the dangers, toils and snares that he has brought me out,
He is my God, and I'll serve Him no matter what the test;
Trust and never doubt, Jesus will always bring me out -
He's never failed me yet!

Didn't my God deliver Moses from King Pharaoh?
And didn't He cool the firey furnace for Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego?
When I think of what my God can do -
He delivered Daniel, and I KNOW He will deliver you!
Trust and never doubt, Jesus will always bring you out -
He's never failed me yet!

I will sing of God's mercy
Every day, every hour, he brings me power;
I will sing, and give thanks to Thee
for all the dangers, toils and snares that he has brought me out,
He is my God, and I'll serve Him no matter what the test;
Trust and never doubt, Jesus will always bring you out -
He's never failed me yet!

I know He is able to deliver in times of storm;
I know that He'll keep You safe from earthly harm -
Someday, when my weary soul's at rest
I'm going home to be forever blessed;
Trust and never doubt, Jesus will always bring you out -
He's never failed me yet!

I will sing of God's mercy
Every day, every hour, he brings me power;
I will sing, and give thanks to Thee
for all the dangers, toils and snares that he has brought me out,
He is my God, and I'll serve Him no matter what the test;
Trust and never doubt, Jesus will always bring you out -
He's never failed me yet!

Rejoicing with you, dear heart ... and may I add:

HE MAKETH NO MISTAKE (Psalm 23:2)

My Father's way may twist and turn,
My heart may throb and ache;
But in my soul I'm glad to know
He maketh no mistake.

My cherished plans may go astray,
My hopes may fade away;
But still I'll trust my Lord to lead,
For He doth know the way.

Though night be dark and it may seem
That day will never break,
I'll pin my faith, my all, on Him;
He maketh no mistake.

There's so much now I cannot see,
My eyesight's far too dim;
But come what may, I'll simply trust
And leave it all to Him.

For by-and-by the mist will lift,
And plain it all He'll make;
Through all the way, though dark to me,
He made not one mistake.

That's the best way to see it.

We have been praying for God's will to be done. We know what we want, but God is not Santa Claus - he has his own plans, and they will come about. What our job is to be the tool in his hands, salt, light, leaven, ready to go where he calls and strive to do what he says and be a witness to his presence. We are also to expect the world to contend with us greatly.

And so it does.

Lord, be our light, now and forever. Amen.

Oh dear Pegita,
This has moved me to tears!! What a comforting poem. This one is getting printed out. Is it put to music or just a beautiful poem?

He Maketh No Mistake is a poem I have pasted in my Bible, Polly, and it's my favorite. This one, though, is next:

HOW THE LORD SUSTAINS

Christian, when the way seems darkest,
When thine eyes with tears are dim,
Straight to God thy Father hast'ning,
Tell thy troubles all to Him.
Not to human ear confiding
Thy sad tale of grief and care,
But before thy Father kneeling,
Pour out all thy sorrows there.

Sympathy of friends may cheer thee,
When the fierce, wild storms have burst,
But God only can console thee
When it breaks upon thee first.
Go with words or tears or silence,
Only lay thee at His feet;
Thou shalt prove how great His pity,
And His tenderness how sweet.

Far too well thy Savior loves thee
To allow thy life to be
One long, calm, unbroken summer,
One unruffled, storm less sea.
He would have thee fondly nestling
Close to His loving breast;
He would have that world seem brighter,
Where alone is perfect rest.

Though His wise and loving purpose
Clearly yet thou may'st not see,
Still believe with faith unshaken,
All will work for good to thee.
Therefore, when thy way is gloomy
And thine eyes with tears are dim,
Straight to God thy Father hast'ning,
Tell thy sorrows all to Him.

Oh yes you are right Knitting!! I surely needed to hear this tonight and be reminded of the truth and security of God's larger plan. Just call me impulsive " Peter"!! I was ready to cut off ears tonight on those threads!...

What a splendid idea to keep it in my Bible. This is a wonderful poem also. I believe that it is so easy for us to get our eyes off the precious Promises that are ours in Christ Jesus. ..
