Betcha mine was worse than yours....
Good episode for the humanistic side of things. Thrace will be an interesting side bar now that she is in a different place. Will she go on a big drunk? Try to screw with Lee Adama? Maybe do something big down the road.

Kara Thrace and Tigh are now on the same side and reading from the same page in the same book. That alone will be big down the road, I'm sure, as that's not happened before, and that has to be deliberate on the part of the writers.

I'm nominating Olmos for his Emmy right now.
Old post, but I'd nominate him just for his "well that's it, it's been an honor" bit. Just that 30 seconds should get it.

I've been trying to remember what the drone strategy to draw off the Cylons last week reminded me of. It was the Soviet Backfire/Badger attack in Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising. They used drones to draw off the U.S. F-14s and were able to attack an undefended U.S. Battlegroup.

Actually not. Tigh just got a sense how out of control they had gotten by almost killing their mole and Thrace was just exposed as having a personal agenda. In the end when Tigh is hanging up his wife's clothes you get a sense he has made peace with her.

That was a great book. He and Larry Bond put out the best military fiction book I have ever seen.
Probably worth going back and reading it again.

It could be something out of WWII as well. Moore and others have written a lot of the battles around WWII and WWI - Scar was based on the Red Baron, the episode where Boomer uploaded the virus to the Cylon Raiders and the Vipers took out hundreds of them was based on the Marianas Turkey Shoot (I'm spelling it wrong) from WWII/Pacific (I think it's referred to as the great Cylon Turkey Shoot).

Nope Balthar is a cylon.
Remember how 6 is in his head. He was in 6's head.
My guess is during the intial Cylon attack 6 and Balthar got killed and mixed a little when they downloaded. That's why Balthar was in 6's head when she was on Caprica.

I have thought all along that Tigh's wife is a Cylon. I think she'll show up again.

Let's be blunt - a lot of their budget went into last week
Echoing my statement last week:
I have a feeling that next week's ep will be a SFX dud because they shot a pretty big load making this oneEvery SciFi series had their dud. ST:TNG had the flashback, "Shades of Gray," to save $$$, as did The X Files (Space). They all got very low ratings and this one will, too. But not from me. It was nice seeing the Adama/Tigh conflict. Tigh is a damaged man, and Adama knows it. Yet he still must be the Admiral; the leader. Things are going towards the chaotic side and Adama must use both his command and his heart to keep things focused and together. There's still the Cylon threat to deal with. His burdon is great. He hasn't forgotten the lesson Dualla taught him: the fleet is family, keep them together.
No Boomer? Hour-long shows only last fourty minutes in real time. They probably didn't have time to deal with the Hera issue. It'll come.
My predictions:
Tigh and Starbuck side-by-side, joined by pain and hate. We're going to see these two become very strong friends and allies, and they're going to learn that they are a lot more alike than they would have ever admitted in the past. Adama will be challenged by one of the, "Jurors," (Starbuck -in front of Tigh, who knew nothing about it) because he ordered Cain's assassination in, "Pegasus." Anders knows that Tigh killed his Wife. This probably is why he left the, "Jury." When he saw what it was turning Starbuck into, he was ready to divorce her on the spot. I predict that he'll reveal the circumstances behind Ellen's death to her, she'll ask Tigh about it, see what it did to him, compare it to her feelings of hate and open her eyes. Then, she'll help Tigh deal with it all and they'll become stronger from it.
I also hold to my prediction that Tigh will rip the eye out of a Brother Cavil model for his own use.
Next week's episode: TORN
As Tigh and Starbuck stir up discontent aboard the Galactica, a new and deadly virus forces the Cylons to take drastic measures to protect the future of their race. Even as Adama risks his life to hold his crew together, Baltar realizes that he must face the irrational wrath of the Cylons alone.

I think I have a vague idea how you got that screencap. Did you record it on a DVD-R and screencap it to your PC, or do you use a TV card in your PC?
Best part of the episode. Made me all warm and fuzzy.

In the commentaries Ron said they function as the personification of each other's conscience. They really aren't in each other's heads, it's just how they settle moral quandries. Of course Ron also said there was no Adama in season 3, so he could just be screwing with us.

i see that Adama is still labouring under the delusion that he controls the civilian government, and can remove people at his whim.
When he told Zarek that his presidency was a farce and that it ends, i was waiting for Zarek to respond with something like this:
"Sure Bill, that worked out REAL WELL the last time you tried it, didn't it? You wanna try to remove a President who suffered for NOT collaborating with Cylons, be my guest. Now why don't you just SHUT THE FRACK UP, and let the people who actually had to deal with these collaborating fractards handle this matter?

Bingo... (this one-handed typing thing is gonna get old quick -- I had surgery on my hand this morning)My sympathy. You hit the nail on the head with that one.
Three characters come to mind.
- Tigh: This guy is a walking bomb that is about to go off. You can see that he's doing everything in his power to hold himself and circumstances together...note his restraint in trying to keep "the Circle" from being a witch hunt. It's a good thing that he liked Conner, else the poor kid might have really gotten hurt. i don't look for Tigh to get better any time soon.
- Starbuck: Kept out of the fight by somebody who is a psycho even by Cylon standards, lied to, and decieved by that same psycho. Needs something to lash out at. Let's hope that it's cylon raiders, and not human beings.
- Anders: This guy is TOO DAMNED QUIET. The signs are there though. A professional athlete asking for a cigarette? He calmly lets Starbuck walk away. This guy has the potential to be at least as big a bomb as is Tigh. In Anders' case, it's too much ground combat stress. He had a year of constant operations on Caprica, and four more months of ground operations on New Caprica.
- The Chief: He's gonna be ok. His wife and child are fine, and with him, and he didn't execute the guy who was arguably the hero of the resistance.
Dealing with all of that baggage is going to provide lots of material for the writers to play with...a good thing since the expense of special effects in Scifi shows is making action series and movies difficult to do.

Amazing how beat up the Galactica looked this week, though. That's one of the things that Moore mentioned in the podcast that I was happy about -- no reset-button-type cleanup crew. The crew will have to deal with the technical ramifications of what they did for awhile.
