smoking is bad for you. i just quit again. drinking in excess is bad for you. i don't do it any more. i can not imagine having gone through my military career with out both of those diversions. different people choose different ways to relieve stress.

Poor grammer and punctuation aside, you do make a valid point. This "gym and church" military seems to be the direction where we are heading. It is not going to bode well for enlistment.

The military (at least the navy) is VERY politically correct. I was surprised to discover this when I enlisted.

in your lifetime, you've either ingested 'way too much C2H5OH; or you've unadvisedly stopped taking your daily dose of lithium.... or both.....
when I was on Active Duty with the U.S. Navy many years ago, alcoholism was a problem then, and it probably is still a problem now, although perhaps not so serious.....
and, BTW, there is nothing wrong with using the "Shift" key when appropriate... certainly makes for easier reading...

1. This is a vanity, not a news item; you should have posted it, if at all, under General/Chat, not News/Activism.

2. There are two shift keys on your keyboard. Learn to use them. It may be a "style", as you say, but here we call it "piss-poor". Use whatever "style" you want in your *comments*, but stories that start a thread are generally held to a higher standard. That said, please (for the love of God) continue to avoid the "shift lock" key.

3. Posting "articles" with titles like these (especially from a newbie) can result in a short stay if you catch a mod on the wrong day.

You're clearly not a troll, but I'd suggest you read the FR Posting Guidelines for more information. Free Republic, like any site, has certain conventions, rules, standards, and expectations, and it works best when everyone's on board with them.
