The Hobbit Hole XXX - Then world behind and home ahead...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 06/28/2006 10:14:11 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Then world behind and home ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Dry?? Well, it could be either the rodents or the bigger birds. Grackles, bluejays, and starlings will eat the dry stuff, and the smaller birds will pick up the crumbs.

All right if I come share the shade for a bit?

I couldn't tell if you guys had company or not...and I feel like an idiot peering through the woods trying to see if there's an extra vehicle. ;-)

Nope, not yet... probably not until next weekend at the earliest. Money's tight, and we like to avoid the crowds anyway.

Who would have an interest in having homeschool Ebay auctions pulled?

Public school teachers?

The rain will come its own time.

We took gypsygirl for her walk around downtown and headed past the Amtrack Station and noticed a young (20's something) couple strolling in the park.

Just about the time we were to pass them, the fella drops to one knee (I thought he dropped his car keys) and then he takes the young woman's hand in his and (according to LSA's excellent eyesight) slipped a ring on her finger.

LSA figured it out quicker than I did; (I thought he needed a hand getting up) so we stopped and we heard the last part, "well, come on, a bit louder" so she says YES.

We congratulated them and wished them well. Gypsy was hearing fireworks and recalled her home was over thataway so we all parted ways.

Them, to continue their stroll, us to get gypsy home since she was in full Balto mode. Always something happening in the shire, it seems.

Well, looks like we may get the rain, lots showing on radar. I've tested gutters using a garden hose. With luck, you won't have to do.

Naw, I'm thinking private "curriculum selling" websites. They can sell stuff for 3/4 of new, but Ebay undercuts them when I'm buying stuff for 1/3 of new including shipping!

I'm betting places like the website that email is promoting goes in and sabatoges people's Ebay auctions by "reporting" them. That makes people think Ebay has something against homeschoolers (victim complex) and they have no choice but go to the other (namely their) websites.

I find this sentence appalling!

"It is to our best interest as homeschoolers to have 2 or 3 really good sources we can turn to for our used curriculum after all the local book sales are over and we still do not have everything we need."

It's un-American, I tell ya!

The thing smacks of manipulation. They're trying to scare people.

I may be wrong, but I bet you dollars to donuts that the Ebay auctions that are being shut down are being shut down because they're being reported by private used-curriculum brokers who don't want that business going to Ebay.

Hi all... A few pictures from the moot today with R&R and the kids...

Horsie rides on Bay man :~D

Back through the back 40 with Becky - She likes the trees. She said the cool thing about Washington is in the shade it's actually cooler :~D

I think Alyson really got the biggest kick out of riding.

Then the best idea of the afternoon was born, some Rupe Goldberg swings made from my circingle (a horse thing) an extra cinch, and our high line ties for the horses. :~)

This swing was cool because it would spin like a tire swing.

And then swing verson 2.0 - the cinch hung from two high lines...

Ruthy looks on... she neither rode nor swung... not sure how that worked out, maybe next time :~)
