The Hobbit Hole XXX - Then world behind and home ahead...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 06/28/2006 10:14:11 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Then world behind and home ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Really?

I didn't know that.

Well...I'm an illegal alien, then.

Guess I'd better find the title.

Yah, well, nobody ever gets them in time. Local cops don't pay much attention to it but the state troopers are neurotic about outta state plates. I don't think anybody ever gets them on time.

Ruthy was in the same situation. She just got her new plates before we left for the weekend. I've gotta put them on. I guess I'll do that today.

I *think* I can just get 'em at the Albertson's by work. Dunno if they can do licenses, too...but I think they do plates.

Maybe I can do it after work today so I'm not worrying about it.

Kind of a bummer that I paid for a year of registration in Vermont that never got used, and would have paid for almost a year in CO if I hadn't done this whole illegal thing...

Technically I think I'm illegal too but I wasn't going to swap for PA plates just to swap for IA ones. Besides I was a student doing an internship... that makes it ok I think...

Plates you can do at a contractor... If there's one at Albertson's, great, if not, there's one in Tumwater, Kindof behind Pizza Hut and behind a gas station that's closed there there's little strip mall.

There's only one place to do driver's licenses, and it's in Lacey off College. If you drive down college, you'll see signs that lead you there. It's not far, and on the other side of the street from, the Lacey City Hall. They're not open Monday, I don't think, but they're open Saturday... other than that, it's probably only 9-5 during the week. Obviously, if you can go at an odd hour during the week, i.e. not at lunch, there's less waiting, it's pretty deserted.

I'll have to see on the license. Probably will wait and try to get there as they open on a Saturday. It'll be a drag, but I doubt it'll be as much of a drag as the place in Fort Collins. It's almost impossible for anything worldly to be that bad.

Hell could well be a mix between an eternity at a DMV and a very convoluted airport wherein nothing is organized and everything is delayed and rerouted forever. *shudder*

Ah, what a fun morning... One of the websites at work was hacked over the weekend, so I got reload the files from a backup. Evidently someone got into one of the web host's servers and replaced every index file on every site on the server. Luckily we only have a simple information site there, but it was a real hassle for some folks.

Bastages.

Heh... indeed.... speaking of hackers, ecurbh's work just got real busy because a hacker got into all the sites on the host they use and replaced the pages with a weird anti-Isreal message. :~o - so he's busy.

And I'm about to get really busy too. I just got news that a major project to change both servers and service vendors on the same day - will now happen next week, and I have to notify about a thousand people with complex instructions. Yeesh. I'm sortof in denial until I've had another cup of coffee.

I sure picked a bad week to sleep in till 8:30 :~)

I'm guessing you did a few, though. ;-)

Speaking of preggers and stuff, though...I'm gonna be an aunt again. Found out yesterday. :-)

Hinky Highbrow :~)

Obscure reference to Hair's school days:
I wonder what ever happened to Coby Hinky.
"It's too Coby to get Hinky"
"It's Coby, turn up the Hinky"
