I love my mini Ipod except---the battery is starting to go. I think that's the biggest complaint about Ipods. Not so much that the battery needs replacement, that's expected but that it's so expensive to do it.

Interesting article.

I think most people who are knowledgeable and don't choose Macs do so for compatibility reasons or for price reasons. The really bad thing is not so much the price of the computer, but that they'd have to repurchase copies of software, like Photoshop, that they own and paid a great deal for. It used to be that Adobe crossgraded the software for the cost of an upgrade (my first Photoshop was Windows photoshop), but I don't think that's true anymore.

They'll still admit the user experience is superior.

Apple products are hated by internet whiners because they don't have disposable funds. Sounds about right. Most internet whiners are either too young to get even a part-time job, or too lazy to get one.

It's amazing what envy and free time will do to people.

I lovelovelove my iPod. When I can right-click Google on a Mac, I'll convert there, too.

I am a Linux person. I get excellent performance and stability out of it, as well as appearance - this is my desktop computer, which I put Ubuntu on yesterday -

That said, I really only have one complaint about Apple. I'd like a Linux version of iTunes. Yes, there are equivalents, but no iTunes store.

Regards, Ivan

I don't understand how anyone could hate Macs! I love mine, and this is my third one! I so prefer it to PC, which we also have.

Sometimes, they are so vocal that it's annoying to others — annoyance which these others will turn into contempt for the products themselves, because they believe that the products are to blame for these enthusiastic people that are bothering them with endless promotion and zealous advocating.

Bingo - haven't noticed it in real life, but some of the Mac advocates at this site come across as being more unstable than Windows ME.

Apropos of nothing -- one of my favorite Peanuts comic strips culminates with Lucy Van Pelt asking, "have you ruled out stupidity?" ;')

Egad, I may be getting a 20" G5 iMac (last of the fast G5 iMacs, 2.1) this week. There are just two (one of each size) left at CompUSA, the floor demos, so I'll have to move quickly. :') Six months no payments, no interest, or so the Apple rep told me. They wouldn't move on the price, which is kinda dopey. I'd also want it maxed RAM (2 GB), and that added some cost. Should I do that myself?

A less attractive possibility is getting their last G4 Mac Mini, but graphics performance is better on the iMac (and of course, the iMac is a G5, which will be supported for a while).

Going down memory lane, I recall my Mac geek buddy getting all steamy about the Rio player, the first really popular mp3 carry-around. Not too sure there is such a brand any longer, and I think the original manufacturer sold the whole line to someone else years ago.

Probably when the iPod first came out. ;')
