WASHINGTON, May 31 — After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.
Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

Y'am welcome.
FINALLY cooling down out here. Five days in a row above 105 (106, 111, 111, 109, 108) and now today it's just hit 86 at 1:00pm.
Yesterday was forecast to be 98. The high was 10 degrees more than that. Today was forecast to be 97 and it looks like it'll hafta work to get as high as 10 degrees cooler than that.
Good thing weather is so unpredicatable or we'd really be bored talking about it.
I'm gonna check out for the day. I was bad; I had a freind send me a book in PDF form -- nearly 300 pages -- entitled "The Day Of Small Beginnings", and I stayed up all night to read the whole thing, so I'm a zombie.

I've never seen Babylon 5. I've watched Babylon 5 - not as often as I should have, it's excellent.
There was also a short-lived spin-off called 'Crusade' - it was good, also.

It was the next to the last of the good TV Sci-Fi shows.
(The last was Firefly) If you enjoy Sci-Fi you should pick it up at the video store. For once you had a TV show with Politics (right-wing no less!) an Economy, Religion and all the other elements that make for a real universe rather then a stage set.
The writing was first rate as well.
