Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

I didn't notice, my apologies.

I have that 'problem' with details. DH notices everything, and I tend to take the overview.

Still trying to figure this out ...

"Well, the nice thing about life is that once we leave the Earth, Life Begins. "

The problem with Scientists is that when you leave your body behind, and your memories evaporate, they don't think there's anything else remaining.

Who said "memories evaporate?" The only thing you take with you is your intelligence. Memories are in there.

O-o-kay ...

So everything that leaves your body when you die ... goes somewhere?

And of course we know where. What we don't know is how, and perhaps why.

You leave all physical things behnd...your body, clothes, jewelry...you know the old saying: You can't take it with you.

Your intelligence is what you take with you. Brain waves can be measured, so they are energy...I would hate to think I'm going to lose my basic essence and be a total stranger to me when I'm resurrected...

This is all very Matrix. Not that it is unfamiliar to me.

Now in early artificial reality experiments, a researcher had donned a helmet which provided him a view across the room to where he observed some geek with a helmet on. -- It was himself.

His question was, where was he? Was he the observer, or the observed?

Does it matter? In the end, we will know the answer to all the important questions. The matter of where or who or what we are or will be, will become moot. Why speculate on something that is beyond our ability to answer?

"Why speculate on something that is beyond our ability to answer?"

Because, Dear Child, that is how we increase our abilities.

Steve comes home, pops open a beer, turns on the UT, and starts laughing uproariously.

Like Marty's dad in "Back To The Future!"

No beer in the house! Diet Pepsi will suffice.

Well, you're welcome to do it here, but the dogs will lick your face.
