Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

It was a thread about integrating humans and robots. Since I had addressed that subject in my book, I pulled out an appropriate excerpt.
My emphasis was that there are advantages, and very distinct disadvantages.

The Icelandic coast gaurd is bigger than the Irish navy... I would think that it would be the other way around. Or is a Coast Guard not considered part of the armed forces in Iceland?

I would think that it would be the other way around. Or is a Coast Guard not considered part of the armed forces in Iceland? I was joking on the spur of the moment, though the Icelandics are protective of their fish stocks! But, the Icelandic coast guard is only thing resembling an armed force in Iceland (apart from the NATO base at keflak) - they don't have military forces of their own.

Such integration would have to be limited to low-level microcontrollers tied into musculoneural structures for use in prostheses.
A true AI tied into the central nervous system would be a very dangerous thing, indeed.
It would bring an entirely new angle to John Milton's quote:
"The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a Heaven of Hell; and a Hell of Heaven."

OK I was in the first Gulf War and part of this one (which is just an extension of the first war) but wasn't in the Civil War.
Though I do have Civil War flashbacks...

Maybe we should just take it over.
About the only thing that they have is pretty scenery and pretty people and both suffer when you take them away from their natural habitat.

I think I came close.

Ah, Bob is right - that's the song I was thinking of, I got the era wrong, though. (Does that mean the Bismarck isn't the War of 1812... just joking!!)
