WASHINGTON, May 31 After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.
Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

It is useless as it would be destroyed upon any access attempt.

But then again, we would only know for certain if it has been destroyed when we actually attempt to access it.

Chess? Ugh. My grandfather taught me how to play; a couple of years later I started being pushed toward competition. Took all the fun out of it and I've dabbled briefly only twice in the decades since.
The last time (15 years ago) my friend could tell I'd played before: the first game I lost in a fool's mate (ouch!), but each successive game I improved markedly.
Right now the fill-in entertainment is the Sudoku game on the cellphone.

...at which point all we have done is confirm it's uselessness, so why even bother?

Yep, hunting season is great there....ducks there year round, although the mix varies according to the time of year and how hard the river freezes. There's always the salt lake, though, and alot of birds hang out there. I think they eat brine shrimp

"... sounds boring. What do you do?" I'm seriously underemployed, just making deliveries. It keeps me active and exercised, but it's pretty mundane. -- also Tuesdane, and Wednesdane, and Thursdane, and so forth.

"Cable modem into router, then split to each computer from the router?" Exactly. You may need guidance and help from the cable company. Don't be reluctant to call -- it's no extra charge and that's what they're there for.
Take inventory of your cables in case you need to purchase one or two.

Lead shot with waterfowl, that is. You can still use it on upland game birds. and for clay birds!

That's about what I thought I was in for. I probably won't tackle the set-up for a week or two; I'm getting my hardwood floor worked on at the end of this month and don't want to get something set up just in time to move it out of the way.
Thanks for the confirmation, though.

Exactly. You may need guidance and help from the cable company. Don't be reluctant to call -- it's no extra charge and that's what they're there for. When we got DSL they provided support for one computer only. No network support. Had to do that on my own... I don't know which definition of "router" is being used here; if it's an Ethernet hub/switch -- yup. (I don't recall if I had to play with DHCP settings, though I did, just so the units with fixed IP address didn't have to be reconfigured.)

I haven't played chess since I beat the late Igor three times in a row. But I'll check out the link. My two grandsons are excellent at it.

Was killing birds who ate the shot. Now considered a hazardous waste material, undesired in the wetlands.
