Exactly. You may need guidance and help from the cable company. Don't be reluctant to call -- it's no extra charge and that's what they're there for.

Take inventory of your cables in case you need to purchase one or two.

That's about what I thought I was in for. I probably won't tackle the set-up for a week or two; I'm getting my hardwood floor worked on at the end of this month and don't want to get something set up just in time to move it out of the way.

Thanks for the confirmation, though.

When we got DSL they provided support for one computer only. No network support. Had to do that on my own... I don't know which definition of "router" is being used here; if it's an Ethernet hub/switch -- yup. (I don't recall if I had to play with DHCP settings, though I did, just so the units with fixed IP address didn't have to be reconfigured.)
