AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 1919) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | April 24, 2006 | All of Us

Posted on 04/24/2006 4:55:31 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

I'm back. Nice, quiet time along the beach, but way too short. Kids were picked up from the airport last night, and they look like they've been to Florida, complete with the requisite sunburn (not too bad, either of them).

In the news...

The Evil One is promising a long war with the United States and has, in his latest video tape, promised to make war upon civilians. He has also called upon his supporters to combat the UN "peacekeeping" force located in the Sudan.

The Evil One's logic for attacking civilians is that the civilians are supporting their governments' new Crusades upon the Mid-East.

Oil prices are easing back from their recent highs of $75/bbl.

Meanwhile, both Senate Majority Leader Frist and Speaker Hastert are engaging in a major cover thy six and blame someone else because it wasn't my fault game. Both leaders are blasting the President for not doing enough about high gasoline prices--well, Congress, where's the drilling in ANWR? Where's the additional refining capacity allowance?

And the daughter of the founder of Earth Day says gas prices are not nearly high enough (she doesn't say what "high enough" is).

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Good morning. The price of gas vis-a-vis the 2006 election has me worried. This is the one place, I think, the GOP is highly vulnerable--even though it's not their fault. The GOP is in charge, and the prices are going up, and folks are not amused. Pocketbook issues tend to be biggies, and the perception is the GOP is willingly letting it happen.

And, remember, in politics, perception is reality.

I agree about the gas prices. Americans don't understand how gasoline prices are set, and it's certain that the media isn't going to educate them.

I think the President needs to address it by a national prime-time address with concrete measures to lower costs (like reducing the gas tax, temporary stopping of boutique gas mixtures, etc.) He also needs to address the speculation and competition from overseas which drives prices up. Some people on FR have speculated that George Soros might be pushing the price higher in an effort to harm the administration.

As you said, perception is what's important, and the people need to see that the President understands the problem and is addressing it.

Welcome back. And I agree with you about the gas prices and how it might influence '06 elections. But I really don't want to see a tax applied to oil companies which some Republicans have suggested. It won't help the consumer, will hurt the oil companies and is socialism lite vs. capitalism.

Good morning.

Good to hear you had a nice time.

I agree about the gas prices and the midterm elections. Even when prices are much lower just mention oil companies and people go beserk and blame the Pubs.

Good morning, and thanks for the ping, Chair!

I don't know what to say about gas prices and the elections. Hopefully the annual climb in in prices will have faded into memory. The way that the GOP can turn this to their advantage, IMO, is to tout ANWR and building more refineries (pointing out how the fossils on the left have stifled progress for close to 30 years. . .). This could be a GOOD issue to turn things against the eco-wackos AND tout our progress on pollution as well.

Yes, but do you think they have the smarts and nerve to do that? And if they did, would they back down after the dems had their say?

Sadly, I don't have a lot of faith in Frist.

The eco-wackos are now advising us not to mow our lawns, because, they say, cutting the grass contributes to global warming. I say their hot air blatherings are doing THAT.

Also, NOT cutting the grass gives snakes and lizards a place to hide and slither into your homes. Now if you're a herpetologist that might not be so bad. But for me, I'm cuttin'!

We just HAVE to keep in contact with our pubbie Congresscritters and let them know that we expect them to get that message out (and notes to GOP National Chair don't hurt either).

I routinely email the White House with my thoughts. I have no illusions that President Bush reads them (even the mushy, glowing ones), but the contact IS important, IMO.

But you're right, the GOP always acts like it is the minority party.

Gas prices: a "real" issue, yes...

Jemian, thanks for those links and congrats on achieving your goal. In some ways those 2 years have flown by, and in other ways...but your heart's desire is to return to the field, so many, many blessings to you.

LOL! I'll be reving up my lawn mower TODAY!

I woke up to the news this morning that a Spring Festival in Chapel Hill, NC....a couple of miles down the road from Durham and home to UNC-CH, erupted into gun fire yesterday...black motor cyclists, 3 people shot, 235 police.......Homeschooling parents may have to start collegeschooling if this keeps up.

Plus, I would imagine not bathing or wearing deodorant. If manure is partly to blame..their stink could be, too. LOL

Hello lovely ladies!

Should be a warm, sunny day here in my little corner of the world.

No word yet from Ev; I talked to Katie last night & she told me he should be arriving back at camp sometime today and will most likely call immediately upon arrival.

I may try to get out & do some of the yardwork I was going to do yesterday, but couldn't because of the rotten weather. But first, a grocery run & a few other errands. As soon as I work up the ambition/motivation.;^)
