The victim, a single mom who turned to exotic dancing to support her two kids, attends North Carolina Central University, a mostly black college in Durham.
She plans to keep a low profile until the students go on trial to avoid inflaming tensions in the black community, where opinion is running heavily against the privileged students.
One of the most hurtful things for the woman about the media circus surrounding the case, the cousin said, is the tendency to assume the worst about her because she is a stripper.
"She's a victim and she's a human being," the cousin said. "Her occupation couldn't justify that a crime like this was committed."

Whatever.
so don't accuse him of putting words in your mouth.
He did. I haven't said the players are guilty of rape - just guilty of stupidity.
Kim's photo is out, the fact of her hedging/changing her story is out, and the story about her contacting a PR firm to help her spin the story to her advantage is also out.
The only thing about her that isn't out yet is her criminal history and the fact that she was just re-arrested a week ago. Nifong seems to be letting her off the hook - released her from having to post bond and agreed to have her probation reinstated until 2010 instead of going to jail. All together now, let's say, "QUID PRO QUO!"
Er... we could start with the people, the DA being first among them, that didn't wait for factual information but reflexively assumed that the entire team was guilty of something or another simply because of group membership. (Or should we say ethnic identity and cultural background?) We could start with the person who appears to be a false accuser. Will those people be held responsible for their own demonstrably ungentlemanly and unladylike actions? They should be and I doubt they will be.
Sooner or later she will be back in prison no matter what deal she makes with Nifong.
Neither of the whores have a bit of credibility.
LE and the DA need to get this thing hog-tied or get off the crapper, STAT. There are so many threads of posts themselves skanky remarks (not you, Sir JB,) that it's looking ugly in the bottomless and repetitiveness of over-the-top slurs/down-nose looking. And I'm not talking about ANY guilt or innocence involved here. Some of the posts about the students' prowess abilities of 'gettin' clean girls for their pleasurable activities,' and skank and ho and ugly and fat and cootied and ugly-haired and such do not HELP the team or the posters. A good amount of what's being tossed back and forth and back again is just offensive to women, period.
We haven't even got close to having that discussion and because 2 or 3 boys are going to be put away, maybe for life, on what appears to be a false accusation. Once that vry big matter is resolved, one way or another, the obvious discussion about the morals of the boys of the strippers, etc, have a more "synergistic" reality of being discussed.
The MSM tried these boys IN PUBLIC, MADE THEM OUT AS GUILTY before any facts were known. Are they guilty of being bad in having underage drinking on premises? Yes. Of hiring strippers? YES.
We, here, are waging massive retaliation against the GUILTY BEFORE ANY FACTS KNOWN mantra by the MSM and their Disciplines by digging up facts the MSM does not care to have revealed. That's gotta come first.
There is no evidence that the guys were laughing at her or just letting her lie there. That's an assumption. To the contrary, there ARE pics of them helping her into the car. These kids seem to get the shaft at every turn.
I so agree with you!
What about the "thank your grandpa for my cotton shirt" remark? These guys have no class. White, privileged? Maybe. But apparently their privileged upbringing didn't include class.
/Peewee voice off
I do remember an active participant in these threads (a person who is no fool) making a strong case a while back that the "cotton picking" remark was not "racist." I compare that with Holocaust denial.
Most all of us despise Tawana/Sharpton, etc. This event cleary has some similarities. But it is not that event. It is a different event with its own set of facts and circumstances.
IMO, there have been a lot of comments which have been, at best, premature, and, at worst, as biased as anything coming from the other side.
And remember, she arrived at the party visibly bruised (probably badly if noticeable on black skin,) and drunken. Not ONE of the many guys turned her away (or helped her,) at that point. This whole freakin' mess could have been averted if someone had stepped up to the plate.
Hell, they needed Uncle Buck* there to turn her away...just as he did the entertainment clown that arrived drunken for his nephew's Birthday party in the movie. Big dumb Buck even knew better.
*Obscure John Hughes Film referrence.
"IMO, there have been a lot of comments which have been, at best, premature, and, at worst, as biased as anything coming from the other side."
That pretty much sums it up!
Agreed.
I'd say the boys were wise. I'm sure they would have called an ambulance if her fall was serious but she must have still been *itchin after her fall.
I believe the cab driver described them pretty well and besides the phone calls, there should be a time stamped photo at the ATM, probably at the place they ate and at the dorm. Not only that, sometimes voice recognition is a stronger identifier and he said they were talking in the cab.
