Skip to comments.Ancient Celtic / Scottish Viking sites in New Zealand!(?)
Posted on 04/11/2006 9:19:16 AM PDT by SunkenCiv
Remains of a typical Scottish/Celtic homestead. (from 12th Century New Zealand?) A modern native NZ Scottish/Celt surveys the ruins. Drystone walls have been pushed out and over. The typical hearthstone, the rock for the family's patron saint, the rock on which the dwellings protective God would have sat, and others are all still in traditional and recogniseable positions. Other such remains abound. This site is now difficult to reach by sea and little known. The original boat access is much changed and boat access is best achieved from an adjacent bay. It is also in the vicinity of a town, possibly of underground Scara-brae style dwellings, ancient Scottish/Celtic graves and sites of genocide and other atrocities.

Gods, Graves, Glyphs (alpha order)
There's also at least one megalithic site (standing stones) in Malaysia.
Fascinating. I have been studying standing stones and their significance to Biblical people in my women's group.
Misplaced prepositional phrase. Makes for interesting interpretation! Sorry!
I love stuff like that. :')
As a Kiwi, I'd love to believe in these theories for the sheer romance of it, but their evidence never stacks up...or they won't show the locations of their discoveries to Kiwi archaeologists...and the finds always seem to be made by people of the ethnic group they're claiming were here first.
There is one politician who believes in all this, but she's kind of flaky and her minders won't allow her to comment on it publicly.
FYI when you can find the time...megalithic tomb building, methods, costs, customs etc.

There are a number of indications that something went on in New Zealand prior to the arrival of the polynesians, which are reminiscent of what one sees on the South American continent. Evidence of agricultural terraces, canals, vast irrigation areas and massive stone walls...and raised areas which have the appearance of forts...
Makes as much as Celts
Wow! Thanks FN!
