This is where you and I diverge. Elliott to me is an album guy, not someone you will find singing songs on the radio. He is music that slots into the background like jazz or softer r&b. Has its place like anything else.

Taylor is about the performance to me. He's fun on stage in his own spazzy way and he interacts with his audience extremely well. Big arenas, no. A packed small venue is the deal with him. And while I could see him doing a good CD, he would be better at getting people up and moving. He "could" be the next big fad in music with a nice devoted base of fans everywhere you go with people talking about all the places they have seen him and how drunk they were at the time.

>>>Jay Leno can even promote the gray hair schtick and George Clooney will be thanking heaven for the free publicity. <<<

But Clairol will go out of business. ;)

<<<>> Do you have any song choices for Taylor from that short list available to them this week? There must be something comparable to something he's wsritten. I'm listening to 'Somehow' right now and every time it comes on I go look to see what song it is because it just strikes me as such a good song, slow and easy but drawing you in.<<<>>>

This is from the Gray Charles site.

Here’s more songs Taylor could do that would be great:

Destination Moon: http://tinyurl.com/rf6sg
Come Fly With Me: http://tinyurl.com/m8pv6
Jump, Jive and Wail: http://tinyurl.com/qtw23
Route 66: http://tinyurl.com/psal8
(Which has been covered by the Rolling Stones, Depeche Mode, and a zillion others. Great song. I liked to the Rosemary Clooney version which is a favorite of mine)

AND here’s a 1946 classic which Ray Charles covered at one point…

Let the Good Times Roll: http://tinyurl.com/qorq

Thanks for that Bucky interview. What a nice guy he is! He will go far in whatever he tries. That kind of easygoing personality scores high in life, if not with Simon the Grouch.

I think they play jazz on the radio. If Elliot put out a cd, and if it sold well, I would think his songs would get played on the radio.

You don't have to be drunk to listen to Taylor. His energy comes forth through speakers just fine, you don't have to see him in person to enjoy his music.

His music really is not the crazy and wild spazzy stuff people think it is either. Taylor's own music is actually mellow, melodic and soothing. You actually could hear it on the adult contemporary stations. He can do the other genres and do them well though, which makes for entertaining concerts.

LOOKS LIKE SIMON IS NOW PIMPING THE ONLY TEEN LEFT TO WIN.

HE NOW WANTS PARIS TO WIN !! IF SHE WINS, SHE'LL BE THE YOUNGEST WINNER EVER IN IDOL HISTORY.

http://extratv.warnerbros.com/v2/news/0406/14/3/text.html

Here is a summary from MJs Blog site :

Simon's Prediction of the Week

Simon Cowell was recently interviewed on Extra. Here's what he had to say about who stays and who goes:

* About Taylor Hicks's "stage theatrics", "It's ungainly, all over the place. It's funny...I'm not disputing the guy can sing, but it's all a bit stupid."

* About Ace Young's future on the show, "I think his days are numbered."

* About Katharine McPhee's future on the show, "She's reaching a point where she's looking so perfect and sounding so perfect. Ironically, it can work against you...she won't win."

* Simon's favorite according to Extra? "His favorite to win is 17-year-old vocal powerhouse, Paris Bennett. 'You gotta give the girl some credit. She's a tough little thing, isn't she?', he said."

The Ace and Katharine predictions look reasonable. Ace has been treated like someone they can't wait to get rid of. Katharine is just not the type they typically like--too left-coast with an eclectic style that's not easily marketable. However, I'd bet my house that she makes at least the Top 5. The Paris "prediction"? Am I missing something? I'm squinting at that quote, and I'm not seeing where Simon actually says that she is his "favorite to win."

Taylor is going to win, if the public truly has a say in it. JMO of course, but he hasn't even delievered his best yet. His popularity is rising faster than any Idol - ever.
