Would love to see Taylor do this one! I love this song, but he should really sing something better known that everyone will be singing in their head for the next few days after the show.

If you download the video from tonight or have it taped, be sure to check out the facial expressions for both Taylor and Chris, especially Chris, after Ryan Seacrest makes fun of Elliott over the pool of sweat thing. I didn't tape it, what happened??

Katharine? Maybe "Burning Love??" Kellie would have done better with that one. I think Kat is going to have the hardest time with this week, being a girl. Katherines best choice: Teddy Bear. She could knock it out of park if she did it right.

Boring song crowd???? Hardly unless you consider classic songs boring. Personally I find most of today's modern stuff (and that includes the stuff that Chris screams every week) to be generic, overproduced crap that is hard to distinguish from one band to another. Agreed. So many singers in the '60s and the '70s wrote and performed songs that they actually believed in, and it was a mark of honor to be creative and individual.
No, so many bypass that for a quick ticket to the top of the charts (and just as quick a fall)

Fantasy....Taylor spazzes out on "All Shook Up" and Simon has a heart attack. Then, he does "Don't Be Cruel" and Paula melts right before our very eyes. And Randy laughs for 2 consecutive days. <^..^>

Agreed. With AI, its the total package IMO - looks, charm, voice, entertainment value. Kat has all that and she isn't afraid to show it.
I still say it will come down to Taylor and Chris. If Chris doesn't get off that album rock venue he does week after week after week, I think Taylor will pull off the win.

"I was completely disgusted by Ryan Seacrest's behavior toward Elliott Yamin on the results show yesterday evening. Ryan set Elliott up by asking him how sweaty he would be at a future show time, and then turned to the camera and said "Now that's a nice thought, America." That's all that happened? Wishing him a young, painful death because of that will do nothing but get your e-mail ignored and possibly get you on a "watch list".

She wasn't in the bottom 2, but she kept acting like she dodged a bullet.
She probably thought she was in the bottom 2 and maybe thought she was going home. She knew that she butchered (to use a Kellie Pickler term ;-) "Against All Odds", and maybe she reviews Dial Idol who had her as one of two who could be going home. IIRC, Dial Idol had her in a virtual dead heat with Paris.
To: Texas2step
She just needs another "wardrobe malfunction" to get her to the finals.
To: retrokitten
I personally think Ryan does a great job on the show. I would miss him much more than losing Simon.
Simon tried to prevent both Taylor and Chris from advancing to the Hollywood in the first place.
He really doesn't understand American music. His one word "reviews" are boring and very surface. He is always saying "dreadful" and "horrible" with no explanation.
He says Taylor often sings like a drunk at a wedding. I would love to be invited to a wedding like that!

Folks,
We have reached that point in time when we have to ask ...
DO YOU REALLY WANT CHRIS or TAYLOR TO WIN AMERICAN IDOL ?
This statement by MJ in her blog says it all...with my own comments added to it...
I was thrilled that tonight's show was only a half hour. I love the quick eliminations. And no crappy musical guests either. Which meant the Top 5 performed a group sing. YAY! Except that song--holy crap, what was that song? It was called "We Are One" and was written for something called the British Commonwealth Games. Ewww.
This was yer typical puppies-flowerz-there's-a-pot-of-gold-at-the-end-of-the-rainbow-if-you-only-dare-reach-for-the-starz-and-OMG-we-r-one cliched cornball crud-fest.
Actually, this song is exactly the kind of tune the winner will have to sing at the finale. So, get practicing kids!
MY COMMENT ADDED :
If you fans of Soul and Alt-Rock don't want soiling the likes of Taylor Hicks and Chris Daughtry with this kind of bland ( read : A MOMENT LIKE THIS ) music, I suggest you don't vote for them to win and please, just please, let Katharine Mcphee have the crown. Kat is the PROTOTYPICAL American Idol template and it would be better for the show and for Taylor and Chris' sake to just let her win ( Note, I am discounting Elliott because I believe that the Elvis theme won't do him any good and he is probably
the next to go REGARDLESS of what he does. If after you sing a song that moved Paula to tears and cause her to remark with hyperbole "YOU ARE THE AMERICAN IDOL", you still end up bottom 3, that does not speak well about the strength and number of your fan base ).
I believe that Chris and Taylor WILL HAVE recording contracts regardless but I DREAD, JUST DREAD having to endure hearing them sing shcmaltz music like this. BAD ! JUST BAD FOR THEIR CAREERS !!
Speaking about fan bases, as a side remark --- Taylor was Number 1 again in the DIAL IDOL and AT & T land lines stats last night.
I just want Taylor to get outa there at number 3 and do his own soul thang at that point. I DREAD having to hear him sing another Diane Warren song.
Unfortunately, this song was merely bad-bad, not so-bad-it's-good-bad. Am I making sense? I don't mean the singing was terrible, either. The singing was good. Except when that choir joined them on stage. Like Bandzilla? (The AI House band is LOUD) How about Choirzilla? (Ditto) At that point, the entire number turned into a big, goopy bowl of schlock. The song was just really, really banal. And no pointy pose either. Not even a giggle. That was not fun.
That is what guys like Taylor and Chris get when they sell their souls to Mephistopheles ( AKA American "POP" Idol ).
SO FOLKS, AS MUCH AS I AM A TAYLOR FAN... I PERSONALLY, FOR WHAT I BELIEVE IS FOR HIS SAKE, GOING TO *NOT* VOTE FOR HIM BY THE TIME THE TOP 3 ( WHICH i AM SURE HE WILL BE IN ) IS ANNOUNCED.
UNLESS OF COURSE, TPTB allow him to sing his own compositions ( e.g. SOUL THING, HEART AND SOUL, HELL OF A DAY ) in the finals ( which I very much doubt they will ).

I don't have a problem with him either. I thought I missed something last night while I was busy typing and posting.
Simon used to give constructive feedback, but lately he's just commenting. It's like he just can't relate to some American music.
I totally agree about Taylor, too! That is a wedding people would actually WANT to attend. LOL!

Do you know if Kelly plans to reschedule her Israel appearance?I don't know, Netizen. No official word has been released. She had been touring almost non-stop since 2004. During that time she got sick about three times and always tried to make up dates she missed. So I think she may try to perform in Israel next time she gets a chance.

I do as well. Unfortunately, that's what sells.
I love Chris. However, my least favorite songs he does have been the "new" ones like "What If" and "I Dare You".
I loved his cover of "Renegade" and "I Walk the Line". I have also found some of his stuff he did with his band, Absent Element, and enjoyed it as well. It was not a repetitive scream fest like "What If".
I miss good rock like we had in the 70's and 80's - Def Leopard, Aerosmith, Styx, Queen, etc. A lot of that music is timeless and I think we'll still be hearing those "old" songs for years to come.

slutsky Katherine Mchasnofriends No need to be jealous because her chest is bigger than yours.
Us men folk can appreciate her singing talent more than her physical attributes.
