Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

It is still adding value to the place, even if he would not have done it himself.

Gonna Buy Me a Dog *grin* The Monkees sang that song...

He had said May...now I'm wondering. I could pay for April, but not until mid-month.
Found my phone...Ben put it up high. ;-)
To: RosieCotton
Unless you are having problems with the guy I don't think you should pay more or sooner than already agreed upon.
To: TalonDJ
I can't imagine how either. Someone is a little too good at distracting me.

Just me, but I wouldn't wait till May. Yeah - I'd pay him some rent now for April then.
Waiting till May included you doing $500 in garbage removal... I know it wasn't us who changed the deal, but he's got to see $500 in value for you living there this month... and with the cleanup inside and out, and the rest of the garbage gone, I think you've done that... But he needs to see $500 in value for April, and I'm with you on the fence. I'm not sure he'll see that as an added value in exchange for rent. I would, but he probably wont.

The thing is the free rent till May arrangement was before he took it upon himself to remove the garbage. It was supposed to be "Can she stay there rent free for a few months if she does the cleanup?" "Yes".
Then he inexplicably hired the handy dude to haul trash and paint and do all the other odd jobs he did. He did all the stuff we were gonna do to hold up our end of the bargain. I don't know why!
So now what?

Them painted while tires should knock a few bucks off the rent...
But I'm with you Hair. If you can pay him something this month, take it to him and say "I know we agreed that I wouldn't pay you anything until May, but since you did so much work on the place, I wanted to go ahead and pay you for (part of April)..."

That makes sense. Can't argue with that.
To: Corin Stormhands; HairOfTheDog
I'm thinking even if I just gave him a hundred bucks or so, he'd at least know I'm serious about renting there. And he knows I got a new fridge and that, so that counts too.
I could give him a bit more at mid-month, and then start really paying rent next month.

Ramius just called from the airport. Plane is on time but they are warning of possible delays in O'Hare.
As of right now though, all planes are still running on schedule from Chicago. *fingers crossed*
He'll call me once he gets there to give me an update.
Hair - do you have that flight tracker handy?

Heh, have I ever recounted the story of my first trip to Texas to meet Rose? It included a delay at O'Hare, among other problems.
We cheerfully refer to it as my Trip from Hell. :)
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
*shudder*
I just checked on his flights and there aren't any delays noted yet. I'll keep checking throughout the day.

Yes. Or at least he said he was.
He's having a lot of fun teasing me about not being at the airport and such. ;-)
