The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Johnny went for a walk with the dogs on Wednesday and took a spill when Maddie freaked out. He cracked a few ribs, bruised his heart and lung. Now they are saying he broke his wrist and will most likely need surgery.

Oh Lord, no that's not mine. I would love one like that. Bob only builds things for horses and he's driving my new floors and countertops :) That's a place called Sunset Decks out of LA I think. I was searching Google for what I was trying to describe.

The ferns are new this year:), and they are on the other side. I need something on this side, it has nothing. The other side has the line of rocks, the redbud tree, the trellis' around the glads. the cement bench. The fountain should help give this side some character:)

I so agree and I wanted to say something like that to him so bad. He was really quite obnoxious and rude.

OOHHHH, why do you dislike hollyhocks. I'm planning on planting a few of those back in the corner on this side. Just to have something with some height.

If he was rude, forget him. I just hate to see people that don't know stuff, not knowing:')

Goes without saying:). I'm always worried that you all will git tired of my garden. But I love gardening as much as I love riding:).

We have done it before from a mobile home, going down. Just wondering how it is going to look going up. By the way, I have cheap countertops that are not seamed really good. My granite tops are at the stable:')

Oh my don't. Here at least, and I'm sure there since it's more temperate, they reseed themselves and one becomes an army in no time. They are very difficult to dig out too, and aren't attractive except when they are blooming. Oh - this is my opinion only :) I like things that stay where I put them and the only shrubs I wanted in my flower beds where the lilacs.

I think they'd look good along the side of a large house, or along a fence in a big yard but they just overwhelm my beds.

Well, I was feeling empathy for him until I heard he was rude and obnoxious.

That's mine. They are ten years old and were cheap when we purchased the place. They've needed to be replaced for about three years now. And I keep saving money to put in hardwood flooring and replace the carpet but something else keeps coming up. Truck, vet, great deal on a wonder horse :) In Bob's defense, I'm as bad as he is. Eventually I'll get around to the house I guess.

I felt very charitable towards him in the beginning of the call, because he wanted to buy his grandson a horse. The longer we talked, the less charitable I felt. For one thing, he talked to me like I was a half wit :)

He said, the one in the picture, with the spots - that's a filly. I said, what picture is that sir? In the book of course. ?????

Our problem is that we get things workable and move on to something else. Who needs trim? Money was tight and we bought and did functional stuff. We are trying to pretty the place up a bit now.
