The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

That is such a cute fountain. I think you're right and the water will evaporate too fast to grow algae. Where in your garden are you going to put it?

Well, just before dinner a man called me looking for an appaloosa filly or young mare to buy. He had a very thick Brooklyn accent (no offense to anyone here) and didn't sound like a horse person at all.

When I asked him what he was looking for in a horse, he said he wanted to get one for his 11yr grandson. I said, Oh, then this is a horse for your grandson to ride? No, I just wanted to get him one so he'd have something to take care of. His mother said if I got one, it had to be young so it could grow up with the family. The baby, it can leave it's mother at what, two or three months?

I quoted so real high prices and when he asked if they were negotible, I said no, sorry. :)

I got my plates and bowls but no cups. I'll check out another tomorrow. I'm going to buy an above ground pool from Academy this weekend. My plan is to build 3 attathed raised decks in the back yard. The first would have lawn furniture, the 2nd a bbq area and then about a 5 foot deck around the pool. You think that would look funny from a slab house? Maybe I should do 4 decks.

I think it would look nice. Make them at different heights, with wide and long steps going to them. The one closest to the house could be the lowest one, the one around the pool the highest. Then with some planter boxes and/or built in benches, it would look really neat.

Yeh, I figured they would last with a horse maybe 30days if the horse survived that. They need a big dog (well, not really, poor dog).

That's what I was thinking. I really don't care much for ladder climbing.

Poor guy. He doesn't know but we all have to start somewhere. In a few years, if he's really interested in horses he will think back and groan.

I think I'm going to put it in front of the ornamental grass. The bird bath and rock has been moved. I'm planning on planting Shasta Daisys around the bottom of the grass. In fact, my flower lay out is entirely different this coming year, every thing will be different except the grass, elephant ears, , lillies and the shrubs along the walk.

Fercryinoutloud! The guy should get the kid a gold fish or a hermit crab if he wants him to have something to take care of.

Now that will look so nice with the grass as a backdrop. I so envy you your garden :) Mine is so full of weeds all the time and the feral cats have killed just about everything but the roses and the hollyhocks. And I really dislike hollyhocks, hubby wanted to plant those.
