Stern's compensation was mainly in stock, so that was one wise thing Sirius did.

XM and Sirius are both in trouble.
Looks like the world wasn't ready for subscription radio after all.

XM Radio just reported a $268.3 million loss in their most current quarter, $80 million more of a loss than for the same quarter last year.
Hmmmm...that satellite radio business is not quite what it's purported to be.

Stern better bring in some more Strippers! Why would anyone buy something that is worse than the free product?

It has always floored and mystified me when I've heard of various businesses posting these kinds of losses. I mean, if I lost $5,000 in a year - much less a quarter - I'd be doing good to live in my van, but these outfits lose a couple hundred million and go right on with the show.

I don't have Sirius, but a coworker does, and commented to me this morning that there are commercials? I thought part of the appeal, and the reason for the monthly fee, was no commercials?

Sirius has cut back on a lot of talk radio shows, choosing to run repeats and interrupt others nightly with obscure college basketball games. That, adding Stern, and dumping FOX News has moved my thumb up to thumbs down.

This sounds like a giant scam.
This also sounds like something Radio Air America and Alice Franken and his crew of lying liars might pull on a bunch of gullible left wing extremist jihadists liberals.
The Stern deal sounded to me like a lot of money for filth that any drunken sot at a Saturday night frat party can do just as well.
