Whenever I've had an access problem, I go and delete the "Microsoft Generic Host Process for Win32 Services" entry and the problem is fixed.
Shut down all open programs, Go to the "Firewall" page, click "Configure," supply the password (you SHOULD have a password), click the "Programs" button, and then remove the "Microsoft Generic Host Process for Win32 Services" entry under "Manual Program Control."
Reboot your computer and Norton will recreate this rule. This has always fixed it for me.
OK, little late to the party but here I am (you may all be thrilled now)
Hi, Kate. What team are you rooting for?
I think the problem is deeper than the web site deals with. It sounds like access to the firewall settings is also blocked. Thats what leads me to believe a corrupt file. AWB

I've never used it, but it's worth a look for you.
evening everyone!
During any given year since early childhood I never found myself particularly following the Seahawks, but did follow the Steelers off and on, so if what I expect happens, I'll be happy.
Crazy as it sounds, I was watching football with my dad just to be with my dad. I was too young to follow and fully understand the game at that age but found myself following certain players and teams over the years.
My all time favorites are actually college teams (Notre Dame, ASU and UT...but will also root for the other Arizona universities...unless it is interstate and then it is Sun Devils all the way!)
Good evening!
OK, the problem was that I couldn't log on to secure sites. And it's gotten progressively worse over the last month.
My (Sample) Norton Virus Scan and Firewalls said they had expired, but when I pinged myself, there was clearly something blocking me.
When I tried to get 'to' the Firewall configure settings, it would tell me that I didn't have priviledges (The stinker!)....
I've tried calling and contacting Symantec, but like on forum posted, it's almost impossible to get help. I was on hold for 45 minutes at one point. The second time I got someone in Calcutta (Sweet girl...but) she kept saying "My supervisor won't let me do that!" (I think, her English was such I could have gotten the downtown Dominoes)....
SO, I've gone to Tweaks for Geeks, and I downloaded DLL servers.
I ran a Veri Sign Scan and computer is OK.
I've also read that Norton expired would block https sites, so I've also deleted all Norton programs (like they advised)....and turned off and rebooted my 'pooter.
And TA DA!
Not a damn thing has changed.
Hrmpt.
I'm on DSL too.
Any ideas?
Oh no bummer!
Hey we're open 24/7!
I love my adoring fans!
Are you using Nortin's firewall ?
If you uninstalled it then do you still have another firewall?
Have you tried using firefox?
Oh the hugh-manatee!
If you want a good free antivirus program, try AVG.
If you want a good free software firewall, try ZoneAlarm.
How long have they been expired?
