I'm watching Fox and the discussion has been on the healing properties of dog saliva. I have heard of this all my life and I know dogs are sympathetic and want to take care of injuries. BUT NOW WE HAVE PROOF!! It was on Fox so it has to be true. A person from the Mayo clinic wrote in and identified the protein found in high concentrations in dog saliva which promotes healing of wounds. HA! So now we know.

Regarding dog saliva....when I was a little girl (growing up on a ranch), all skinned knees and elbows were treated by "let the dog lick it" then swab it with the "red" cow medicine - whatever that was :-) Must have been some kind of healing properties there - no scars!

I am sitting here remembering other home health care... bad cuts? mud dobber mud and cob webs. A boil? rancid bacon did the trick.

Anybody else remember tratments? Or are these remedies only performed in the south....:-)
