We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Well, climate change must be real after all. Heck, UOx42 said so at the Montreal conference on the subject, so it must be.
The GOP has launched ads where DemoncRATS, such as Howard Dean, are making anti-war remarks while having a white flag from time to time wave in front of their faces. Way cool!
Scientists have learned the Earth's north magnetic pole is moving rapidly from its spot and will likely move into Siberia in the next 50 years. (Obviously George Bush's fault.)
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

My dad, who liked to eat scrambled eggs and brains, used to say he had more brains in his stomach than in his head. I agreed w/him and left the table AND room when he was chowing down on that particular dish. lol
I like organ MUSIC, Dolly, but no organ MEAT for me either.
To: prairiebreeze
I can't even look at liver at the meat counter.
Shudder..My son, who spent a lot of time with his grandfather when he was young, learned to like liver by eating a lot of suppers with my folks. He is the only person I know who will actually order liver at a restaurant! Mrs. Coopster won't cook it, either.

I want to clarify something. The
Chronicles of Narnia is a
series of books, of which the first is
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The others include
Prince Caspian; The Voyage of the Dawn Treader; The Silver Chair; The Horse and His Boy; The Magician's Nephew; and The Last Battle They deal with different aspects of the Christian life. The rallying phrase of the last book is farther up and farther in. CS Lewis, imho, doesn't reach the pinnacle of his writing in these books, but these allegorys paint a picture which helps children understand the infinite.

Oh, yes, Chili's is one of my favorites! Yes, bartender and hubby have parties at their home for all the employees at the bar and 'regulars' (such as me). Her hubby is a helicopter pilot. He and I have had several conversations at the bar about aircraft structures and astronomy. I miss him.

I have been re-reading the books. I last read them when my daughter was young, and had forgotten some of the details of the books. It struck me that quite a few difficult ideas are discussed in those books, and explained in such a way that one can begin to understand them, even if one is quite young.

My doctor and I used to have long, enjoyable talks...he delivered my children...even called them his "little chaps"...so when my son was born, I insisted that he show me the placenta/afterbirth. It looked like a large piece of liver!
To: Miss Marple
LionsDaughter began reading the series when she was five. Yes, reading them on her own! Hence, her name LionsDaughter comes from being a daughter of God, the Lion.

I believe, the turn around in Lewis life was the death of Joy.. his wife (Shadowlands).
His writing became deeper & that of a committed Christian.. not an intellectual Christian.
I had a few classes in seminary that dwelt with Lewis.. first time I had read his work.
He is a deep writer.. the children's books are pretty easy but the adult ones.. well, one needs to experience them.

I think my favorite Lewis book is The Screwtape Letters with the essay Screwtape Proposes a Toast appended. I see so many of my besetting sins in there. Also, Lewis makes a great point about false humility and of being proud about how humble one is! LOL! I have found particularly helpful the idea of a thing not being "good" or "bad" by itself but whether it moves one closer or farther away from God. Now, somethings are good or bad (murder is bad), but other things are kinda gray (should I spend time reading this book or that book?).

are you in area w/fire warnings? I don't especially think so, although there was a fire the other day Very Close By that was started with a downed power line I believe. We thought we might have to evacuate, it came that close and traveled that swiftly, spurred on by strong winds.
Yep, we'll be at Rio Grande Valley.

You are right. Lewis is deep. I think that is what makes him enduring. You can read his books once and realize some points, but others aren't grasped. Then, you reread them and realize other points. He was a gift to us.

The "being proud of being humble" thing struck me, too! And it so perfectly describes the way Satan works on one's mind.
I like The Screwtape Letters very much.
I need to re-read that, along with Mere Christianity. I spend too much of my time reading junk, lately, or messing about on the computer. You have reminded me to take a fresh look at how I spend my time. Thanks!

When I was in law enforcement we use to have chillerling suppers all the time, officers would come from all aroung, fried or boiled chiterlings. Gotta admit, it has been YEARS since I have had a mess of chiteroings.
To: Miss Marple
You are most welcome! I'm so glad the soup worked out. Yes, it does make a huge batch, but my hubby loves it so much as an easy leftover he can just microwave (he even prefers the blend of flavors the second or third day to the first), the batch size is usually not a problem.

I did send the recipe home with my daughter. She will probably only make it when she has to supply a dish for a pitch-in or entertain a large number, because they don't have a large refrigerator or freezer to save leftovers.
She is going to always be a vegetarian, I believe. My goal, therefore, is to get her to have recipes which provide lots of nutrition..particularly proteins. That recipe is a good one for that.

Goooooood morning!
The Narnia movie developments are very exciting! This movie is going to impact us in ways we can't even imagine right now. God bless all who worked and contributed to the project and the movies to come...

I take vitamins and supplements also, not as many as I used to, but targeted to what I feel my needs are. And I totally agree with you about the energy thing in being vegetarian; I start the day with so much energy! If I don't overdo the sugar and bad carbs throughout the day, I can end the day with plenty of steam as well.
