Eight inches of snow on the ground and only one more day of running the "seasonal flavors". I think the farthest we ship is to Kentucky which would be a bit of a drive for you.

I suppose you are enjoying balmy weather and sunshine?

From one moment to the next, we might find ourselves very happy and content with life, then, in an instant, life may become fragile and swiftly be turned around to such an extent, that we are literally paralyzed from fear and confusion. Lester's Transit Strike Hobby is about that journey.

If you like Dry heat, west of the Rockies is the place to be. If you want Wet heat, just head south...

LOL.

Looks more like an art-house flick they would show at a place like Film Forum.

I came across at on Google Image Search as I was looking for photos of stranded commuters walking across the Brooklyn Bridge.

I like dry but the parental units want to live near the grandkids. And I admit I would like to live near them too.

Number One Niece just got her driver's license. I remember walking her to school her first day. I suddenly feel so OLD.

Believe it or not, the bus lines in this city actually were wholly privately-owned for the first half of the 20th century.

That's another long, infuriating story in and of itself.

I have often wondered why "Big Labor" has not been declared a monopoly and broken up like Ma Bell and Standard Oil was.

That "age" thingy has a way of putting everything in perspective. But my kids are older than I am...;o]

"and how much money do you make? Certainly more than the security guard or Macy's clerk, as you have a computer with broadband to keep the bills away."

I make less than half of what the MTA employees make. Actually 17k after taxes, yet I work full time at an office with a computer in front of me all day. Oh yea, and I have thousands of dollars worth of student loans, no pension, 3 days vacation and no overtime. Man I wish I drove a train.

It's amazing.

Full dental, full medical, salaries that eclipse 50k annually-including those that work at the laughably obsolescent position of token booth clerk-and they adamantly refuse to put even 1% toward their pensions.

*scowl*

Yah...until December of 1995, the Las Vegas transit system was privately owned. The guy didn't give a darn about anything but the Strip, the drivers were crooked as a corkscrew, and had it not been for the foresight of whoever took over, there would have been no bus service for at least a week.

As it was, we had drivers from all over the country trying to find their ways on the "circular" routes...all the buses left from a certain point (downtown) at the same time, and they all had to be there at the next certain time. And everyone knows if you go in circles, you never get anywhere...the "grid" system was an absolute blessing...

And ABC World News Tonight is going completely maudlin over it all. Typical.

It's a coming-of-age kind of strike which makes you ponder the direction of life--or so says Roger Ebert.
