"I suspect the sustained G-load could be a bit of a strain ..."

After the takeoff, nothing compares. Our maneuvering thrust will be done at one tenth the force needed for launch, and we will cycle the load between the Gas-Cooled Nuclear Reactor/Rocket Engines for the sustained burns.

None of the maneuvers should be more than just noticeable, due to the gimbaled thrust-ring structure we, ah, "depend" on. We will not exceed point six gees.

Yeah, but I expect I'll be sober at launch. I continue to be fascinated by the sight of Mother Earth just falling away.

Once in transit, I could be in a state where any G-load knocks my gimbal right off axis.

Glad to hear I shouldn't spill a drop due to the loads.

Later all! Up and to the business of the day. Much ancient Phoenician and Anasazi text to study today.

Morning, 'Face!

Have you finished putting gift-wrap on all those boxes in your living room for the Holidays?

I suspect, when you are not cozied up in the observatory, you'll be comfortably ensconced near the artificial fireplace in the dayroom of your corridor, with Hobbes watching the birds in the courtyard.

Phoenicians were great navigators! I'd love to have replicas of their navigational devices.

Yeah, I have to make my rounds , as well. Our checklists for flight preparation are starting to look like the naughty and nice lists. I'd rather have those!

See ya!

Done at high speed and very low altitude, some may find them a little unnerving.

Anything I do at high speed and low altitude is unnerving. It always give me a rush. *wink-wink*

I think by the time we are ready to go, Hobbes will have a new brother. His name (for now) is Tabby, but I suspect he is only tolerating it until he is able to tell someone (me) his REAL name.

A cat has three names; his ordinary name, his fancy name, and the name only known to himself - that's adapted from the sci-fi film, Logan's Run!!

Supposedly my icy touch drains the heat from living things to fuel my cold generator.

Or something like that.

Well, since you'll most likely never come into direct contact with my inanimate electric mattress pad, I'm not to worried about a sudden heat drain...;o]
