Mills McCartney loses leg after row with J-Lo's guards
15/09/2005 - 08:09:31
Paul McCartneys wife Heather Mills McCartney lost her prosthetic leg during a violent confrontation with security guards at Jennifer Lopez's New York office.
The incident happened on Tuesday as the model turned animal rights activist attempted to deliver a People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) DVD showing creatures being killed for fur to Lopez, following a demonstration at which the 37-year-old pleaded with fans to boycott the superstar's music, movies and clothes because she uses fur in her fashion range, Sweetface.
After striding into the building opposite Manhattan's Bryant Park, accompanied by an entourage of journalists and photographers, McCartney Mills - who lost a leg after being hit by a car in 1993 - was confronted by burley minders who yelled: "You have no authority to be here.
"Get out! Leave the floor immediately!"
In the tussle that ensued, Mills McCartney's prosthetic leg became detached. She bent down and clutched her knee in pain, before asking to use a bathroom so she could reattach the leg.
Guards refused and she was forced to cling onto a photographer as she carried out the humiliating task on a stairwell.
Photographer Richard Corkery tells 25hoursonline.com: "I saw her touch her knee and I could see she was in pain. She limped to the ladies room but it was locked. I found another door open. It led on to the stairwell. At least she could have a private moment, which is what she needed."
According to 25hoursonline.com, Lopez's guards continued to verbally attack the group screaming: "Call the cops! Call the cops!" - until Mills McCartney recovered her composure and was able to leave the building.
Maybe she took the leg off herself and it was knocked out of her hands before she could beat somebody with it.I never knew Paul's wife was missing a wheel.
How is "Call the cops, call the cops" verbal abuse?
Sounds like a skit from MAD t.v.
It might make one think that there are consequences to one's actions. Such trauma!
You know, I'm not PETA-file, and this woman was the one who instigated the trouble, but it's never looks good when you take a handicapped woman's leg off.
Talkin' about a "wardrobe malfunction"...
Oh geez, I thought that her real leg got cut off or something at first. I didn't realize it was an artifical leg. LOL
Where, eh, do I begin?
Mrs. McCartney was trespassing. She should have just mailed the DVD to J-Lo. She'll get over it.
Speaking of J-Lo's clothing line, it doesn't seem to be doing too well. I spotted the clothes at a deep discount outlet.
Guards win......she doesn't have a leg to stand on.
But she doesn't have a leg to stand on.
Damn.
Sorry.
I know better, but LMAO in spite of myself.......
I would have thought that Heather Mills McCartney would have bodyguards of her own. Her husband has been far more successful than Lopez can ever hope to be.
Ok, I feel kind of bad doing this, but hey: if Kerry can make assassination jokes and get away with it, fair is fair. They started this war of words, and by gum, I'm out to win it. In 'honor' of Kerry:
The proverbial one legged man in a kicking contest?
If this wasn't PETA related, I don't think I'd be laughing. But PETA makes me laugh to begin with! And then a one-legged woman starts a fight?
"...it's never looks good when you take a handicapped woman's leg off."
On the other hand, you get a leg up.
For a second I thought they clubbed her like a baby seal with the leg... but then I figured out that was just my mind playing tricks on me.
Man, what a lousy deal. I hope she's OK.
J-Lo is a pig- McCartney should have known better than to try to approach this way- if J-Lo has ANY decency (ha ha) she will fire her guards
Stupidity all around
I hope she's ok as well, but really, what did she think was going happen......welcome her with open arms. She wanted publicity for her cause and she got it.
