Dunno which is worse: being stuck below sea level or getting caught on the highway.
We're fixing to go wet-test some spas! SirKit has decided he'd love to have one that we can ease into after an evening's work on the construction. Werks fer me! First thing we gotta do is build a deck for it, though! We're gonna decide on the spa, then design the deck supports especially for it. We've ordered some EON decking to build it. We found an auction on e-bay that was selling some of the EON stuff that was made before they changed the thickness of it. What we're getting is 1 1/2" thick, and the stuff they're making now is 5/4. They changed it because Home Depot wanted them to, to make it more affordable for the DIYers. We like the idea of the more substantial stuff and we were fortunate to find enough in the redwood color to build the size deck we want.
Whale skeleton, huh? Just how big was that sucker?
Well, downtown has some vey tall buildings, so folks could always go UP. I have a niece and nephew and their families living in Mid-City. If it starts looking really bad, they'll probably head to their grandmother's house, or my brother's house up in Hattiesburg, MS. It's about 2 hrs. north of NO, but there wouldn't be any rooms in any motels to be had all along I-59, and they might as well go where they can stay for free.
640, up from 128? Yeah, you should really notice a difference. Congrats!
I think I'm gonna try a long bike ride here, got a camelback this week and I wants to try it out, precious, yes I do!
I think you have to wear something different, Rose... That's what I hate about the second interview... Having another equally good interview outfit. It's vital we feel good about what we're wearing at interviews. I had ~four~ interviews at the same place once! I had to run out and buy a new suit for the last one! I was plumb out of choices!
Oh - and, BTW... this is where guys have it easier. A guy could wear the same suit all week and no one would notice. A woman wears the same outfit twice, and people think she didn't go home last night.
Sounds like a call for a chiropractor.
Doesn't it!
Ok, got my course mapped out. Doin' the lazy thing - if I get there and am too tired to come home, I'll catch the bus.
We can't do that on trail rides.
I think we're going trail riding later, but ecurbh was restless last night and we just got up, so we're not getting any super early start.
Wish Ruthy would call.... even if her power's out, you'd think she'd look for a restaurant today to have a cooked meal and borrow an outlet to charge the phone up.
Sheesh! You hurricane newbies...:-)
It may take a couple of days to even get the restaurants back online. Depends on how hard her particular area was hit. And even then, getting out to a place could be difficult.
We got to restaurants within a couple of days. But limited menus and no ice because the water was contaminated.
It just may take a while to get things back to where she ~can~ call.
Gotta run...
Yes, I'm a hurricane newbie, but snow storm power outages are just as widespread! :~D and colder :~D And we'd venture into town by about the third day to eat a hot meal and find outlets to charge things.
trini didn't lose power, so there are parts of the city that are up and running.
Heh...I've yet to see a bus with a horse rack.
I'm gonna get groceries, maybe wander the mall a tiny bit in hopes of finding a very cheap pendant or pin or something to go with the blouse, and then write down down answers to interview questions in order to get 'em kinda straight in my head. Thoroughly exciting day, in other words. ;-)
Look forward to trail ride pictures, if you do go!
Wonder if trini somehow lost power after Ruthy's last call...maybe once the storm headed inland, it took out other power sources?
I dunno. But I hope she checks in soon.
I'm also wondering how 2J's visit went yesterday...
Yes, we are still due a 2J update, and check in from Sam and from Ruthy.
Yeah, but biking is under your own power.
I didn't, by the way - catch a bus. Biked the whole way there and back, nice long loop. 70ish minutes of biking which is more exercise in one stretch than I've done in a while.
Don't underestimate how tiring it can be to ride a horse! A lot of muscles are at work, and I bet after a 70 minute horseback ride you'd feel it even more than biking.... I think it's hard not because it's particularly calorie burning, but because the muscles in your legs and back are needing to be flexed without being able to move and stretch much. You get really stiff.
Yeah, I've ridden horses and stuff, it is hard and you do get stiff. But at least you don't have to stare at a hill and wonder "how the heck am I getting up that?"
And I fought my seat almost the whole time - it kept slipping down three inches and I just couldn't get it tight enough. That makes things way harder. Once I got it fixed I did great.
