I got a Nestle's Crunch bar at work today, and happened to read the back. It was made in Brazil. Then I grabbed a Butterfinger - It was made in Venasuala.
So how many Americans do we put out of work when we buy Nestles?
Buy a Hershey instead. The last time I heard, they were still making them in Pennsylvania!
There, now I feel better.
That's too bad; it's been several years since I was in Hershey.
Dirtboy, you're such a snot. You know I have another 1.5 hours until beer:thirty.
Well, you'll be just that much thirstier and enjoy them that much more, thanks to moi.
Well, just to make you drool, I live across the river from Plymouth, PA, home of the Kielbasa Festival, slated for August 25, 26 and 27. You KNOW I will be there, tasting and belching and tasting again (there is NOTHING like a good kielbasa belch).
One taste of true kielbasa and you'll never buy hilshire farms again. Except for those cheddar wurst things. One of those on a Martin's potato roll and my life is complete.
Nestle is not an American company to start with.
From the company's home page:
Nestlé with headquarters in Vevey, Switzerland was founded in 1866 by Henri Nestlé and is today the world's biggest food and beverage company.
Especially if you mix in some beer and onions.
Hershey's is better chocolate anyway.
I think it's between the spleen and the pancreas.
I have to put in my two cents here on that one.
Dove chocolate or Ghirardelli are the best for everyday consumption and purchasability. (Both American I believe, but don't get me to lyin' - Ghirardelli from San Fran, Dove from ?)
Now, Godiva, that is some slammin' chocolate.
Their truffles are just......I can't talk about this anymore. I may have an erotic moment.
Funny, but I don't like Godiva chocolate! I know, I know...I'm wierd! I prefer Hershey's!
"Funny, but I don't like Godiva chocolate! I know, I know...I'm wierd! I prefer Hershey's!"
For some reason Godiva chocolates do not envoke childhood memories like Hershey's.
Lemme guess - because your parents weren't about to pay that much for chocolate that you'd wolf down in a single bite anyway?
Stop talking about GODIVA! OH OH OH....
I need a cigarette.
Mix kielbasa, beer, onions and Godiva chocolates. Now THAT would be the mother of all belches.
Thanks for the tip. I will look for you. One of my kids is competing in the Hershey Track and Field meet this weekend, and as a perk we all get to take a tour of the actual Hershey factory. After the meet is over we are going to Gettysburg, something my 14 and 15 year old sons are really looking forward to (they are great fans of the movies "Gettysburg" and "Gods and Generals").
So you think that "world economy" will will help your kids get a job, or make it easier to find a good one if you lose what you have?
I can't believe how many folks have pointed out that "Nestle is not an American company". I believe they still made them here until recently. Why would anyone want to eat candy made in a 2nd rate country where they still have sewage running in the streets? Isn't Venusalia screwing us on oil? Why give them your money?
BTW - Have you had a Nestles Crunch or a Butterfinger lately? They suck. The chocolate is waxy (probably so it won't melt as easily in being shipped here.) That's what made me look at the back of the wrapper in the first place.
I know that some people think that there are better chocolate brands (Godiva, Ghiradelli and Dove) than Hershey and they are entitled to their opinion. I think Hershey is the standard and the others have different flavors because of their additives. Again, it's a matter of opinion but the taste of Hershey's is far superior to Nestle's and always has been.
Haven't bought a Nestle's product since their baby formula was banned in the U.S. as a poison and they shipped their stock to Africa. Nothing like taking a charitable tax deduction for donating a lethal product.
Milton Hershey, on the other hand, built a school for children from broken families and those kids grew into adults who anchor the central Pennsylvania business and social structure. No one got laid off at Hershey's during the depression. Workers got real homes with yards, not the usual company-town hovels.
Are you going to ride the Hershey Highway to get there? ;-)
Now that is very, very unusual. Great perk.
See you friday and best wishes to the track competator.
