What was the last CD you listened to? (Music recommendations? Memories? Etc...)

Hello FR music fans. A light hearted thread for FReepers to discuss what music they have been listening to lately (old and new). It might be cool to be exposed to new music or old music that others might not have heard. Since I don't have a life, I'm home on a Saturday night listening to my local rock station (WRIF -Detroit).

Just to make you pea-green with envy...they played my high school graduation dance in June, 1970.

Duane was the best I ever heard (and I about heard 'em all)

Anything Hotei in the car, and mostly '80s stuff on-line such as Club '80s with DJ Lex.

I love my XM radio. I've been thinking of eventually getting Sirius to complement it. I hear that Sirius' play lists are a bit more shallow however.

I dig all King Crimson, but my favorite is

In The Court Of The Crimson King.

Do you know the tune "Elephant Talk"?

While I'm a big fan of King Crimson, I think that my favorite album by them is "Thrack." I'm a huge fan of their "Double Trio" incarnation. However, that said, I really do love "Discipline" (the album with "Elephant Talk") as well. I remember when they appeared on Saturday Night Live and performed "Elephant Talk!"

FWIW, Tony Levin is my #1 favorite bass player! I also love the work he's done with Peter Gabriel.

Mark

Oh yeah... The topic of this thread... Well, I've got "Thrack" in my CD player right now, and I'm listening to "Dinosaur."

...takes a confident person to 'admit' he/she 'likes' Barry Manilow...

I once watched some doofus CD purchaser pick up one of Manilow's CDs and point to his friend while chuckling. All I could think was, "Wait a second - Barry makes more real women moist with one song than that idiot will ever have wet dreams about."

I just bought System of a Down's "Mesmerize"

I'm 49 and find that I like the same music as my teenage sons.

I was always a classic rock fan but after hearing "Stairway to Heaven" and "Hotel California" for the 30,000th time I had to move on.

Sorry. I didn't mean that as a dig at your choice of Satellite providers. I was actually trying to get your opinion of whether or not Sirius has "deep" tracks as a part of their overall programming.

,,Louis Prima... Do yourself a favor and track down any/all cds by Sam Butera and the Wildest. Sam is the music genius behind Louis Prima, Sam was the arranger and horn player for Louis and was the brains of the operation. He still performs in Vegas and once in awhile goes out on the road--a must see!If you can't find his cds contact me and I would be happy to burn them for you.His cds are even better than the original Prima releases, I kid you not!

Didn't Bill Bruford play drums with them for a while, and then go to YES and then back to King Crimson? Something like that, anyway.

Yes is my all time favorite group. Got every thing they've ever done and have seen many times.
