Schindlers accuse Jeb of torture
Fox News Shawn Hannity | 25 March 2005 | James F. Rowland

Posted on 03/25/2005 6:27:16 PM PST by steampower

The parents of Terri Schiavo/Schindler just made an impassioned appeal to Florida Governor Jeb Bush to save their dying daughter. Mrs. Schiavo was obviously tired and spoke in a restrained manner, but her husband, Robert, although looking terribly fatigued, used very strong language and placed much of the blame for his daughter's seven days of "torture" directly on Jeb Bush, blaming him for the inaction that is letting Terri be murdered by a "tyrannical" judiciary.

Mr.Schindler says that the Governor has the power to end their ordeal with a "stroke of the pen" and if he had courage he would do it.

What more is he supposed to do?

Disregard that this is real life, and behave as though he's a character on The West Wing, I guess.

No, I don't think so.

They don't have the time to think about what others think of them right now. I don't think that ones religious beliefs don't matter, but that there may have been many other stronger arguments to be made. I just keep hearing about the violation of her religious beliefs and then the being denied due process, which is a more legitimate argument IMO.

I don't think the Bible uses a phrase close to "Natural Right". It's more like Locke. But the DoI uses "Inalienable right" which is, I think, the intended meaning.

I'll give them a pass for now......but later they better PUBLICLY apologize. Jeb is a damn good man.

Well, they've tried better arguments, which have been shot down by "But Judge Greer ruled . . . "

Never Mind. My Brain is too Overwhelmed with Grief to Understand Much of Anything Right Now. :(

Indeed. It would seem that options have been exhausted. It's grasping at straw at this point. I understand it though. I would do no less for my child.

The transcript doesn't do justice in portraying just how rude and ugly Matthews was.

Listen. My point is that most people would have been smart enough to find a solution in 15 years.

There daughter is hours away from death and somehow you think they should be concerned about what you think of them? What a narcissist. You guys pretend to be fed up with the entire mess, and yet you continue to post your outrageous opinions on these threads. Opinions you know will inflame and anger those who identify deeply with the Schindler's and Terri's fate. Why don't you put a sock in it. Randal Terry is trying to save this woman's life.

"However, if the truth is that Governor Bush does not have the legal authority to intervene, then he is no more responsible for not intervening than any of us are."

On Sean Hannity's radio show yesterday, Randall Terry's own attorney informed him (Terry) that Governor Bush no longer had any legal authority to intervene. [BTW: Thank you for your rationality; the commentary on some of these Terri threads has moved beyond hysterical and into the realm of lunacy!]

I think so, too. He's been a strong advocate for their daughter.

They're probably being egged on by some of the wannabe politicians that have latched themselves on to their cause, to be fair.

Boise said that both Congress and the Fla. Legislators failed Terri. They had the opportunity to make a law that guaranteed Terri's parents the right to give her water and food until the matter was resolved in the courts but the verbiage just wasn't there and now we have the Schindlers scrambling to fight it out in court where they will not succeed.

Mr. Schindler doesn't seem to understand the the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has made official policy that contradicts the Vaticans position on removal of a feeding tube.

This policy has so many ways that Catholics can have a feeding tube removed that I can't think of many situations it DOESN'T cover.

Mr. Schindler is just not thinking rationally right now. His daughter is about to die and they are out of options, he knows it. He is just lashing out. I can understand it. Perhaps, at some point, he will come to realize that JB did everything that he thought he could.

In any case, it's sad all the way around.

Besides the law, THAT reality is what gives Jeb the power.

The Judges don't have to obey Congressional Law and subpoenas, but Jeb has to obey Judges orders. Funny how that works.
