As for Bo, he was fairly mediocre last night. His choice of the first song was surprising...I could think of half a dozen better Travis Tritt songs to choose. Does he want to lose the competition?
I think he should have done "Put Some Drive in Your Country" or "Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde" if he wanted to do a Tritt song. "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" would have been good, also.
Don't you think he chose it for the lyrics?
It was about his good feelings not being "drug induced."
What do you consider to be "pro"?
A recording contract -- not just recording.
Anyone who wants to spend the cash can record a demo.
I can accept that, but with the other experiences he has had it still seems like he's way ahead of the others.
Surely if he really has something that record producers want they would have picked him up already since he has played with some pretty high profile band members.
But I don't have any idea of how that sort of thing actually works, so just consider me to be full of...something. :-)
That's what I thought.
Actually, looking at your post #6506, I'd have to agree w/ your original assessment! Pretty impressive resume.
How did he get past the screening for AI? It's supposed to be an amateur competition. Personally, I was disappointed that they raised the age limit this year. Didn't realize they also opened the gates to seasoned performers, as well.
I'm very glad to get your input on this. Like I said, I don't know how this music stuff works.
I'm with you, raising the age limit wasn't such a good idea. It added a bit of interest at first, but it also added complications.
Anthony: A and A
I agree, except I would score him A- and A-. While he was good (very good, I have to admit), I detected no passion in his voice. I think that's what Simon meant when he said he "didn't have enough soul".
Carrie: B and F
Ouch, her second song was painful, wasn't it? I can't recall a worse performance from her. She'll survive it, though (I hope!).
Bo: B and A
Like Clint Eastwood said, "A man's gotta know his limitations", and Bo--to his credit--knows his. Sometimes his songs aren't very exciting, but he gets the job done.
Vonzell: D and D
Vonzelle rolled snake-eyes last night. The first song was a train wreck. The second song, while much better, was still a mess. Why does the girl scream her lyrics? I know I keep harping on that, but it bothers me. I hope she goes tonight.
BTW, jonny, here's a photo of the latest National Enquirer cover. That's has JonBenet Ramsey on the cover
LOL, when is JonBenet not on their cover? If it's not her it's Michael Jackson :-D
A few weeks ago on "Showtune Night", Carrie looked exactly like JonBenet. It was surreal and disturbing--a lot of viewers probably felt the same and made sure AI knew it. Carrie has definitely toned down the big hair and eye-shadow since then, thank goodness.
Ah, so!
"Vonzelltasia"--LMAO!
He could even have chosen Travis' hit from last year about all the country hunting lands being paved over for developments. Or he could have done a tongue-in-cheek, "Here's a Quarter, Call Someone Who Cares".
Good point.
I doubt the intelligence of anybody that chooses "iluvcon" as their screen name, LOL :)
Totally agree with you. I hope Vonzell goes tonight. She's a lovely girl and seems like a good kid. But her performances recently have been really poor. BTW, the rumor over on the AI boards as to why she was so emotional is that her dad was diagnosed with cancer. I have no idea if this is true.
I'm glad AI raised the age limit this year. It may complicate things, but it also makes the show much more interesting.
LOL! Well "iluvcon" is probably about 12, has a goo-goo-eyed crush on Constantine, and is absolutely clueless. (Was I ever THAT young?!)
Well, I do agree with doodlelady that he probably chose this song because the lyrics were meaningful to him, and I do like the song, but it was a bit bland. He nailed "For the Love of Money", though!
