The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'd think they wouldn't be hard to find, too. You don't have any of the chain shoe stores like Volume shoes? Or they didn't have any either?

Thanks!

This is one I'm not sure I qualify for, mostly because the salary is rather high, from what I know...makes me thing they're looking for a manager, though it isn't mentioned in the description. The duties look like something I could handle, though, with a few things I'd need to brush up on or learn, but not toooooo many things.

We'll see...

We have Payless. They didn't have any either. They had some of the dye type, but they were hideous...and not plain pumps, either. Strappy things.

Huh... the dye type I had to get more than once for bridesmaid dresses were just plain basic pumps.

The dress is lavender right? I suppose any of the naturals or beige would go well with it, unless you have to match the others. How important is white? Can you see your feet in pictures in the dress?

There will be places selling white shoes in Fort Collins. There's even a bridal store down the street.

Good morning! I feel pretty good for it being a Monday. Managed to get plenty of sleep last night.

I'll be filling you in on some details later... need to get a picture of the living room. My big bookcase wouldn't go in the bedroom so it's out in the open. Want some shelf space on it?

She said white or dyed to match - so I figured that meant plain white. I should ask, I guess. There were some shoes at Penny's in a sort of ivory that weren't too bad.

I'm still working on getting the dress hemmed (Eep!), but I'm thinking shoes will be (barely) visible. Probably I'm making a mountain of a molehill. I'm good at that.

Two mixed drinks with dinner last night and I was out like a light. Haven't slept that well in ages. I feel so great this morning. Almost makes me want to drink more often.

Any shelf space would be gratefully accepted at this point. Bookshelves need to be one of my first purchases!

I have about a zillion people giving me last minute advice, including several who don't think we should bother with driving - say we should fly, each with a cat in hand, and then I should try to find a car as cheap as mine once we get out there. In some ways, it's tempting. But not as logical as driving. Besides, I need the practice!

And then I have certain family members informing me that it's going to be a very ugly, sprawled out city with strip malls and no pretty spots and I'm going to hate it. Um...I get to decide that for myself, AND if you've never seen it, how can you decide what it looks like?

In a long dress then, I'd go with the ivory ones and move on to the next thing to worry about. ;~D

Are you going to be able to easily meet with us before the wedding? I'll send you the torture device if I need to, but if you're coming days early and think you might even be able to moot beforehand, I'll just keep it safe here :~D

Your sibs are wrong. The strip malls are contained to a couple roads, with the rest being residential. Go a mile south and the road goes through open fields with really great views of mountains. Go two miles north and you get a picturesque section of town with little boutiques and things. Go a mile west and you're at the foothills. Go a mile east and you can see to Kansas.

I love it here, especially when the trees are green, or there's snow.

You can start mailing me things! Remember to send them by USPS since they'll get left inside.

You know, it could well be cheaper to fly with gas as high as it is. Your problem's the stuff, and then it's probably not as easy to find an afforable car as all that.

Yep, I plan to do that. I'm thinking tonight I'll load up the car with boxes and just mail them a few at a time over the week.

I'm worried about the gas prices. It's true, it would be cheaper to just fly out...even after mailing stuff. But I dunno how that'd work with the cats, plus I couldn't really sell the van that fast, plus I'd still need a car, and without a job, I'd be hesitant to buy anything, even if I do have enough for at least a good downpayment. It's all so confusing, though!

I think at THIS point (still don't have tickets), we're planning to fly in Wednesday, with the rehearsal and all being Friday (?), so I should have Thursday to do a little goofin' around.

LOL...

ecurbh and I have been all stressed out about this trip, and we've been very busy making arrangements... So he's getting ready for work and goes to trim his beard and had it set too short! setting 1 instead of setting 4... He took a big swipe out of his moustache before he realized it, and now has had to trim his whole beard short to match it... It's just a glorified 5 O'clock shadow now, the closest I've ever seen him to beardless. ;~D

Difference between introverts and extroverts, I guess, and while I often wish I was more extroverted...I just ain't.

Vive le Difference. The world would be an awful place if everyone was alike!

OK - cool. I'll be able to come get you in Tacoma if you won't have a car. Are you staying at a hotel in Tacoma? Remember you are welcome to stay here as many nights as you need also.

You know, I just can't see you in a pair of chucks. I love 'em, you know I do, and they're really the most comfortable sneakers. But, they don't seem your style...

Good morning! Raining here! Steve's been gone since sometime in the night doing his sampling thing.

Good morning, my friend!

Steve shaved his beard for my birthday. He doesn't look like some Alaskan trapper any more. He looks much younger.

I'll be updating the Bug Blog here in a bit...I don't know if I got any pictures of his face, just his hands doing stuff, but maybe.

Supposedly we're going to find a place to stay in Tacoma, yep! I'm kind of assuming Dad is handling that, but probably shouldn't be.
