Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Tomorrow we may come this way...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

It's funny... now that I have the internet back, I am too distracted to follow it, but it ~really bothered me~ when I knew it wasn't there. ;~D

Don't know what you've got until it's gone. (I hear the song by Cinderella every time I say that).
Glad you're back online, sis. :)

Don't know what you've got until it's goneGreat... now I've got "Big Yellow Taxi" playing in my head.

If I had a box fan, that'd be one more thing to find a home for.
Maybe I could break a chair over his head? Then we could just burn the busted chair and I wouldn't have to find someone to buy it...
Actually, at this point I'm almost down to just the stuff I will be taking to the dump. Most of the rest is either gone or spoken for. If they take the glider chair and maybe even the computer desk...I'll be set!

Don't know what you've got until it's gone. (I hear the song by Cinderella every time I say that).LOL! I was singing along with that song on the radio the other day, and Clare asked how I knew all the words ;o)
The covers of the old songs just are NOT as good. No one can possibly sound as good as Joni Mitchell doing that song.

I used to have a friend like that, only female. My husband used to complain that he knew when i had been talking to her because he would come home to me in such a deep depression...although it never felt like a depression to me. But there are people out there like that whose entire being seems to spread negativism, for whatever reason. I divorced myself of that friendship some time ago, so I am much happier. But she was like that too, exhibiting a talent for really catty and slicing cut-downs in the guise of friendship and politeness. I don't know what it is with people like that. Good thing is you are moving to a place where he is NOT, so you wont have to listen to him anymore!

hehehehe...I'd never heard it until Cinderella did it.
I was a true 80s metalhead. Drove my parents nuts!

Is the Cinderella one the version where there's a guy singing it?
I'm mostly familiar with the Joni Mitchell one, but I've heard the other, I think.

I've only heard the Joni Mitchell original version... didn't know there were remakes until I googled the lyrics.
To: RMDupree
Joni Mitchell did that one in the early 70's. I was listening to her "Blue" recording on CD today. Still sounds great 30 years later!

Yeah, I heard. Sadly I'd stopped following Enterprise some time ago, so...
Ruthy, I offer in my defense the claim of "innocent!" when it comes to any Gundam tv show, book, manga, movie, or toys. No, thank you. (There are probably six times as many anime that I don't watch as that I do...)

I'm sure you have. The version Cinderella did was on heavy rotation for a while on almost every station in the late 80s.
It's a guy singing it, but in that screechy hair-band fashion that was all the rage back then.

I think the one I'm thinking of may be more recent than that. It's pretty mellow. I have no idea who it is, though!

Same here... kinda lost track of it in the middle of last season, and since they moved it to Friday nights haven't seen it at all.

Bah, Enterprise - The new Battlestar Galactica fracks it good. Starbuck ROCKS.
