Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Tomorrow we may come this way...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Next step...I gotta contact a lawyer to do the legal stuff for the deed and all. Check with the realtor before you do that. See what the Agency provides in the way of legal stuff, closing documents, etc.

Our next move will be West of where we are, since we can't get much more East without being in the Ocean, but more likely it will be 'Into the South'!

It was sunny and up to 55 here today! I was driving, so I didn't get out into it much, but it sure felt good not to have to bundle up in a heavy coat!

AFAIK, we don't plan to move unless it's 1) back to DC if things work out a certain way or 2) to the coast.
Although we did talk this weekend about how it would be nice to live in Williamsburg.

I'll bet Williamsburg would be nice. Our plan is to get the remodel done and have it be so wonderful that whenever we sell we can make a bundle on this house. Then we can move South and build a house on a lake somewhere, preferably one that doesn't allow motors, except electric, and allows NO JET-SKIS! We like the quiet, and want to putter around in our kayaks without having to haul them up and down off the roof of the car everytime we want to use them.

I wouldn't mind owning a Bed and Breakfast in Williamsburg. That's not practical right now...

The downside with Bed and Breakfasts is that you have to get up early every day...

Time to go. Wife started teaching her SAT prep class today (for the next five weeks). So she'll be later getting home.
I gotta go get dinner on.
How do you cook dinner?

A. Get married.
B. Tell her to get a move on.
You're welcome.

1. Buy steaks
2. Grill them
3.If someone asks about vegetables, invite them to go outside and gather their own weeds.

I'm doing all this on the advice of the realtor. They don't staff attorneys, but did give me a list of suggested ones.

Hey, I'm sure they exist! Or should.
Bilbo wants a pub.

Used bookstore/music store with an attatched pub... add a room full of imported anime and I think we've got a business plan...

Heh...
And actually...a lot of people who are into one are into another. I've gotten a LOT of good suggestions on books from the guitar group I'm on. And anime goes with the books.
And the pub could have sessions and jams and serve food.
I should tell Bilbo to get right on that, and I'll come help him after I win the megabucks and retire.
Of course...since I never buy lottery tickets, that might be awhile.

I am all in favor of getting my advanced degree and then doing something totally unrelated... I am serious, if I ever had the opportunity and a little financial security, I'd make a try of it...

Pingin' the ladies...hope I didn't forget anyone!
Speaking of the wedding, my bridesmaid dress came today! I had no idea what the design was or the color or anything, so I was a bit apprehensive.
First of all, the good things: I can zip it up (YAY!), which I was a little nervous about, since I gave measurements and didn't know if I'd done it right. It's flattering, though it'll look nicer if I can lose five pounds or so, which I'm on track to do. And no poofy sleeves! It's actually a very nice design...a bit Eowyn like though more modern, with long gauze sleeves (that I'll probably dump in food after the wedding, but...) and a little overlapping part at the waist. It's vey fitted, but looks good. Phew!
Found a picture. Here:
http://www.edenbridals.com/product_info.php?products_id=53
Downsides: It's light purple. Amethyst, to be exact. NOT at all my favorite color and not a color that I think looks all that great on me, but I'm so relieved at the design that I don't think I care. And it's LONG. Really long. Dragging on the ground long. I guess that's the way bridesmaids dresses are, right? But it does mean I'll have to be really, really careful, especially as clumsy as I be.
But it's nice!
