The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You know, I could preach a sermon on that...

One of the audiobooks I declined to rent for our trip to Kentucky was George Carlin's "When is Jesus Bringing the Bacon."

I figured lightning would hit before I got out the door.

Good morning, Rosie, Everyone!

Rosie, I know I am WAY late in wishing you good luck on this, but please accept my heartfelt good wishes in selling your home and an uneventful move. All i can add is : it wasnt that long ago that we had to go through the same thing with house-selling. For us, the moving was the EASY part. Don't know if you are needing to get rid of somethings for the need to streamline your moving, but I am finding eBay useful in getting rid of some of the things we had stuffed into boxes. I am not making a whole lot of money off of it, but its a bit more satisfying than just shuttling it off to the local charity. Sounds greedy I know, but there are some items I spent too long looking for and too much money obtaining just to have as a tax-write-off. Besides, I donate quite a bit to the local women's shelter as it is.

We are in the third week of our homeschooling and I am beginning to feel a bit more confident about it, although I am still trying to figure out what I will send in for the quaterly reports, if I send in anything at all. Erin is speeding along extremely well in mathematics, but balking on her English, so I am finding I will have to spend more time with the latter. I am formulating a plan to not send anything at all into Seton for the fifth grade, have her tested for the 6th grade material, and then organize myself to follow their reporting plan. Its been crazy enough just trying to jump into the middle of it without trying to shove her into a plan she is not familiar with. The next trick is STILL convincing the hubby that homeschool does NOT have to be run like a 'regular' school.

Other than that, life is good!

Since I don't want to bring anything I can't fit in or on my little van, I really need to streamline! I dunno...eBay might work for some things. But really the furniture is the biggest worry. I don't have anything worth much other than my musical instruments, which are coming with me - so I'm OK with just dumping things.

grrr....

People who edit documents just because something could be changed (and does not need to be changed), should be shot.

No doubt before the end of the week, I'll be asked "Why didn't this go out sooner?"

Maybe I'll tell 'em I was backlogged on the TPS reports...

Next step...I gotta contact a lawyer to do the legal stuff for the deed and all.

Eek!

I can't remember when payment is due to them - if it's at closing or what. It'll be over three hundred, I think, so I hope that goes OK!

Annnnnd...the secretary of the first person they had me call is on vacation for the next two weeks. Dunno if that's a good sign.

I wonder if I should shop around. I feel so stupid about all this!

Apparently the cure for Monday morning is to accompany someone on a prenatal visit. We got to hear the heartbeat!

My friend is having a blood test to make sure she's not a carrier for sickle cell anemia. She doesn't have any family history, but I think she's a little worried, so if you could keep her in prayer...

I ought to start a weblog for "my adventures in birth partner-ing". Bah. I have decided once again that I'm not getting married until I'm finished with school. Or at least with classwork. I suppose one could theoretically do thesis work while raising infants...

If you're going to be here as soon as April, I think I'll try to talk to the apartment people in the next few weeks. Four months is a little long to split a bedroom.

Note "theoretically".

And while all future planning is theoretical, I really would like to be married and start a family before thirty. Mom says it's much easier that way.

I wonder if I should wait until May or early June. Would that make it easier?

Though...then I'd have trouble getting Margaret to go with me and it'd mean additional airfare, instead of the wedding twofer.

I think the April date is logical, if we can work out the cat detail...it's just frighteningly soon! I need a little while to get used to the idea!

Well, I'm only partly teasing you. I'm sure there are women who work on their advanced degrees while raising infants.

But most new mom's I've known have considered it a good day when they were able to get a shower.
