The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, congrats!! I know Jen is excited, too! Y'all are gonna have great fun.

Mmmm. just had some Trifle! Today is Joseph's 15th birthday, and that's what he wanted for his 'birthday cake'. We were going to go out to eat, but he went to the dance at his school tonight, so we're going out tomorrow. Gave him his gifts, a rolling cart to store his X-Box and stuff, and a set of Harry Potter books from England! I got one for him and one for Clare, so I gave hers to her tonight, too, though her birthday isn't until the 23rd. I've also pre-ordered the 6th book from England as well to add to the set.

Apparently the TPL isn't limited to the trivial at all... sleep well! I was planning to tell you tonight, not to buy tickets for your brother's wedding yet. I just had a feeling things might change fast...

So how does this set you financially? Enough that you're comfortable with quitting and moving across country?

Heh... it's my older younger sister's birthday tomorrow. I'm going to send her some anime eventually, once the new computer works. She's in England and can't get it herself.

I still need "Goblet of Fire" for my English set and then I'll be up to date.

If you don't have a voltage switch, unplug all the Molex connectors, and the m/b connectors, and then power up again. Does the power supply fan come on?

I did both suggestions, and nothing. Does that sound like a power supply problem?

Just got this freepmail from Allegra, and I thought I'd share it with you:

Hey, cool! I'd love a pocket knife. I pop into the Hobbit Hole every now and then just to check you all out. I've been a Tolkien fan since I was a teenager and had a cat named Pippin when I was growing up.

I've been working in [redacted] as a military contractor for [redacted] months now.

If all goes well, it'll mean I can pay off all debts and still have a few thousand left for travel expenses. Unless something comes up, of course! And I'd probably stay her for a month or so after closing, so that'd be a bit more since I wouldn't have my usual bills. Not bad. And if I sell furniture instead of pretty much giving it away, I might have even a bit more...enough that I wouldn't have to mooch until finding a job. ;-)

It's a blessing, for sure! Or...well, I'm still trying to think in terms of having to wait until the inspection is over to know for sure. An hour and a half until they come by...

As for the wedding....I'd still probably fly out and back to that, and then leave right after we got back here. Unless you really want to be stuck all alone for a week with a psychotic Siamese brat that you don't know! Heh...

Does the power supply need to go on the TPL?

Mmmm...trifle. Tell Joseph "Happy Birthday"!

OK, time for coffee, and then I gotta start loading up the van for another dump run...and try to figure out something I can do for a few hours until they inspect the house - and show it to one more person, who has been told they likely are too late.

Might go over to TJ Max. They just opened one in Littleton, NH! I'd never been to one before, but went last weekend. They had sugar free Davinci syrups for $4 for the big bottles, and I couldn't find any date on 'em anywhere...so I dunno what the deal was! I got white chocolate, which is wonderful. Really good in coffee. I might go back and just browse, though of course I shouldn't be buying anything since anything I buy, I gotta move. But I can still look.

You'd think a roof would be good for 15 to 20 years.

he inspector is coming at 9:30 tomorrow. Something to add to the TPL? Though...it isn't really trivial!

Even if they find something, you can always negotiate.

Morning OT - looks like another nice day today; we had a pretty walk with Gypsygirl, not much traffic yet, crisp and sunny and the snow's finally gone. Too wet to do much outdoors.

You might want to check out the tax laws. IIRC you have to use your capital gains to purchase another house within 2 years or pay a capital gains tax.

But then I'm not a tax professonial, I don't play one on TV, and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. :)

Hi, Jen!

You and other Hole Dwellers as well as my niece and sister-in-law and a coworker have turned me into a Harry Potter fan. Now like y'all I'm eagerly waiting for the 6th book to come out in July as well as the movie "Goblet of Fire"

But I'm stiil a dedicated hobbit!

'Morning! Give Gypsy a pat for me.

I thought I could at least move the sandbox frame to its location for the summer and start filling it with the potting soil and leaves I have on hand. Then it's a trip to Home Depot to do some browsing. I'll look at pet doors for fat cats and garden stuff. Then swing around to the barewood furniture place and maybe pick up a wall shelf and some stain. Then back home and start working on the sliding glass door frame and wall. Guess I should go grocery shopping in there somewhere.

We did and Gypsygirl waves paw back to you. Wheh, that sounds like a full of 'chopping' to me. Good luck.

Yeah, well...I've been thinking about going shopping for a few weeks now. I get in these cycles where "I'll go on the weekends so I'll have time to look." Then on weekends it's "I'll go after work when I'm already out." Hmmmm.....maybe I should go after work when I'm already out. :)

I keep from spending money doing this.
