Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Tomorrow we may come this way...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

The judge denied all of the dems motions for dismissal on various different grounds, so the case will go forward.
But... he declared that nomatter the result of the case, he does not have the power to order a new vote. All he can do is order that the office be vacated, and that there are already other rules in place to handle a vacant office.

Yeah, so the question is does the Lt. Gov take over then, and would he be in office until 2008, or can the legislature call for a special election to fill the office?

Yes, the Lt Gov takes over. And... yes the legislature can order a special election (but probly won't). I suppose it waits for November.

Wow, good news on the offer! If the others who are coming to look at it want it too, perhaps it could spark a bidding war...

Okay ... first turn the power switch off, and see if you have a voltage switch on the power supply. It would probably be a red rocker switch. If you have such a beastie, unplug the power cord and flip the switch a few times; make sure it winds up on 110v.
If you don't have a voltage switch, unplug all the Molex connectors, and the m/b connectors, and then power up again. Does the power supply fan come on?
To: Rose in RoseBear
I do have a voltage switch. Unfortunately I'm not at home right now. Previously, the power supply fan did not come on - nothing came on. There was a brief flicker of light on the "power on" button.
Hopefully I will get home in the next four hours and can try this.

The roof is...I think ten years old? Maybe less. It was fairly new when I moved in.

I've accepted the first offer with the inspection being a contingency. Considering they're offering full price, I think that's as much as I'll get!
Even the real estate folks seemed a bit stuned. ;-) Said this does NOT happen often. The folks who made the offer are an older couple who had one rental property, but sold it on Monday (closed on it, I mean), and were thinking of finding a smallish house to fix up and rent - so they had cash in hand. They weren't expecting to find anything so soon, so they're as excited as I am. And they have the cash to fix the place up since the house they just sold was bigger and more expensive, so this isn't a big deal for them.
Now if I can just survive until the inspection is over...

I think the prayer warriors are almost TOO effective! Heh...
Funny thing is...earlier today I was talking to a friend on AIM, and she said "I'm going to pray that you get an offer for the full amount". I said "No, that doesn't really happen often - almost never. Just pray I get a bit over what it'll take to cover the expenses!" And she said, "Nope - I'm praying for the full amount. Sorry." Heh...if the inspection goes well, she's gonna spend YEARS rubbing that in. ;-)

Wait - if they have cash, then they want to close soon, right?
I'm going to start reorganizing my closet so you have room for your clothes.

I'll still take time for all the legal stuff, but yeah...relatively quickly compared to most closings!
We discussed March 15th as a date...the Ides of March. Oooohhh...
Isn't that 2Js birthday, too?

We were hopin' to move it up to the 11th, though, or even the 4th. I said a Friday'd be nice.
The inspector is coming at 9:30 tomorrow. Something to add to the TPL? Though...it isn't really trivial!

Wow, Rosie! No chance of holding out for a higher offer, huh? If several folks really want it, it might bid the price up! ;o)
Great News, BTW!!

The offer the folks made was set to expire at noon tomorrow if I didn't accept...and since both of the people seemed a little surprised at the offer, I figured I should go for it. ;-)
It's much more than I hoped for, seeing the examples I had. Most houses went for at LEAST 10k below asking price, so I was figuring on having to do a lot of haggling even if I did get offers right off. This is vey nice.
I'd better get to sleep! If I CAN sleep. I want to get up early and get a load of stuff to the dump, and possibly stay away while they do the imspection. They said it didn't matter if I was here or not...but I think maybe I'd rather not.
