How is the poor woman doing?
Has she recovered?
Has she stopped giggling yet?
Have her buttocks stopped jiggling yet?

Italy goes down the Tube. First the slapping, next will be pinching and in the end Italian men will go to prison for wolf-whistling.

This title is misleading...I thought this was going to be a story about a parent who DIDN'T get in trouble for spanking their kid.

As a woman, it is extremely disturbing a male relative pat or 'pop your bottom' and think it is funny. And have other relatives just laugh it off. Anyhow, she should have just run over him with her Lamborghini :)(and I'd hailp!)

We also need some more information:
Did she know the man?
Does she have a tendency to go out in public with no clothes on and think that somehow every man who sees her as a sexual being is a pervert (like those women who get boob jobs and then slap men for looking at them).
These things are all important to determining guilt or innocence.

I guess he wasn't a very attractive man.
Brad Pitt never needs to worry about being prosecuted for this kind of thing. ;)

Italy has a birth rate of, what, 1.2 or 1.3? I suppose by making men scared of women, they are shooting for a sub 1 birth rate? No, I don't support sexual harassment but I also don't support outrageous punishments.

A man in northern Italy was fined 300 euros ($392.5) last year for sending a flirtatious text message to a woman. "If I said you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?"
A classic, no doubt, but it must not translate well.

A man in northern Italy was fined 300 euros ($392.5) last year for sending a flirtatious text message to a woman. How are you supposed to meet women when you cant even flirt using text messaging? In all honesty, there is better ways to flirt but when you cant even say "Hey babah" over text messaging, then you can forget giving any gal that longer than normal glance when trying to send signals. Now you will get slapped with an harrasment charge. Women in Italy will make a career opportunity if a guy makes an advance.

The aggressor, identified only as Ivan P., told the court that the victim was a relative, who had invented the story to get revenge in a family feud. I'm surprised at the replies in this thread. How do we know if she's telling the truth? Why believe her over him? It's not as if stories of this sort haven't been fabricated before.

Sexual harrassment, a charge only brought against people. Think about it.
