My name is Mary Katherine, and I reside in the state of Ohio. I am a registered Republican. I grew up in a small town with very strict parents, attend church every Sunday, and have generally tried to live a good and decent life. I have been married for 15 years, have 3 children, and I am a stay at home mother. I am personally opposed to abortion, I believe in small government, and I cheered when welfare was overhauled. I am personally opposed to gay marriage, and I deeply believe this country needs to do more about the divorce rate in this country. My father was a steel worker who didn't miss a day of work in 35 years. My mother was a housewife. I still visit them regularly even though they live 5 hours away from me.
I think if you met me on the street or at the supermarket we would probably like each other.
However, everyone on this board hates my guts. I voted for John Kerry, so, therefore, according to you, I am a pig with no values.
I come here, desperately trying to understand why that is.
If you haven't stopped reading by now, maybe I could explain the reasons for my vote.
I am a fiscal conservative. I find W's reckless spending troubling.
I believe in religious freedom in this country. So therefore, just because I personally oppose abortion, how can I expect every American who does not share my faith to abide by that as well?
I believe in the Constitution. Therefore, even though I oppose gay marriage, if the constitution affords gay Americans certain rights, who am I to deny them?
Finally, I do not believe the war in Iraq was executed in the appropriate way. I do not support it in its current form.
So there it is. You all hate me for only one reason - the vote I placed on November 2nd. My only hope is that someday, somehow, you could all have a little less hate for those who don't share your beliefs. Thank you for reading this.
This monologue is so self-conflicting, I don't know where to start. I know. I'll start by not looking at this mis-directed gnome's post anymore.
Don't you know anything?
He's the commanding officer of Colonel Palaver and Sergeant Runyourmouth.
It's common knowledge.
-good times, G.J.P.(Jr.)
wah wah wah
I don't hate you, I just think you're stupid.
Hi Kathy,
First let me say that I dont hate you or most other people that voted for Kerry but I fine your post very illuminating. Lets take one thing at a time.
First you say that you are a fiscal conservative. Yet you voted for Kerry. While Bush certainly could have watched the pennies more carefully John Kerry proposed spending increases of at least $1.8 trillion. Thats about a 70% increase in spending. I admit he promised to increase taxes by $660 billion but that still means that the increase in spending would have still exceeded a 50% increase under a hypothetical Kerry Presidency. And there are other arguments but the fact is that you were either ill-informed, didnt believe Kerry on the spending he planned (in which case why would you vote for someone like him anyway) or you are not really a fiscal conservative.
Second. Abortion. This is not just a religious issue. Although I personally have some mixed emotions most of the antiabortion forces believe life begins at conception. For them failure to fight abortion is morally equivalent to the Europeans who turned their heads away as Nazis marched Jews off to death camps. Try to explain that away any way you want but you have to respect moral conviction of that type.
Gays. No one wants to deny anyone rights. However newly invented rights created for certain groups are just plain wrong. Gays have the exact same rights as you or I but changing the age old definition of fundamental relationships opens a door to to a very serious slope. What do you do when a NAMBLA comes around next Tuesday insisting on the right to marry 9-year-old boys? Are we denying their rights? A society must have definitions and standards and these are ours.
Iraq. Im not happy about Iraq either but not for the reasons you are. I do think it could have been handled better but not the way you think. The simple fact is that every death in Iraq, on 9/11, the first Trade Center attack, and nearly every other terrorist attack against Americans is directly attributable to John Kerry , Kennedy and every one of their ilk. The root reason that anyone dared try these terror acts is because they thought they could get away with it. Vietnam, Somalia, and scores of other incidents have occurred over the last 40 years to encourage every thug in the world to think that they can murder Americans with impunity. I maintain that if OBL knew in advance we really and truly come after him, and never stop coming, he never would have tried 9/11. Its the John Kerrys of the world who have essentially acted in behalf of the goals of such terrorists that have encouraged exactly that behavior.
I have more to say on this subject but I wont since it enrages me far more than I like since its a fight Ive fought since a teenager.
You have fallen for the propaganda of many of the left. There is little hate among most conservatives for Kerry supporters, certainly nothing like the venom heaped on us after the election. However you in the collective sense are dangerous. You voted for a man that would say ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING in a desperate search for power. You aligned yourself with thugs (thousands of assaults on Bush supporters have been recorded), liars (Dan Rather), and fringe kooks (drop by the Democratic Underground and read their conspiracy theory of the day).
Perhaps that is your idea of leadership. It certainly was kinda OK in the peaceful and easy 90s. Today times are much tougher and more dangerous and far too much is at stake for another feel good overgrown, special interest, character to inhabit the White House right now.
Best Regards.
The Bible says you should be all things to all people. We here are conservatives so if you are not then CeeYA.
Yes. But as long as they continue to take their meds, they're okay to walk around in public.
Jeeze, is there a gubmint holiday today or sumpin'? SO many transparent trolls out today...
Oh now, don't sell MaryKate short! ;-)
It's nice that you claim to believe in the Constitution but...
Abortion- Some people find murder acceptable, particularly people in prison for it. Should we then let them out because they think it's okay?
Gay Americans- There is no such fricken thing as a 'gay American'. How stupid is that? What are the other categories? Metrosexual American, Hetrosexual American, Asexual American? When did your preference/deviancy become a nationality? Huh?
Iraq- If the UN had any cajones, W would not have had to enforce the resolutions. Saddam didn't play nice with others either. The UN was too busy counting cash from the Food for Oil program anyway. So now that he's out of the picture the UN has moved it's collection business to South East Asia.
Sigh. The trolls who can spell and punctuate just aren't as much fun as the ones with 12 thumbs (or two paws).
and then I got the ZOT
Another one bites it.
(Sigh.)
Troll (fishing): One who posts with the express purpose of causing a violent reaction.
Vanity Thread: A posting which is vain or self-serving (in this case), or for good FReepers, something that personally interests them.
1. We're not all guys.
2. We don't spew. Howard Dean does, but not us. But if you come to this house looking for trouble, you'll get it.
3. Yes, and I keep trying to convet them.
Yes, like....it's called the truth.
If I was not clear, this has nothing to do with me.
Yes, it has EVERYTHING to do with you. That's why you posted your 'cheesy homemaker of the year' profile.
It has everything to do with the amount of hate you all spew when encoutering anyone who supported John Kerry, or any Democrat for that matter.
Ah, now the truth comes out. You love RATS because you are one. Go back to DUmmyland, which is right where you belong. FYI, I WAS a Democrat, and so WAS my family. In fact, my dad was a Politician who was elected 4 times as a Democrat. The reason we all switched to the Republican Party was because of the HATE in the Democrat Party. Because of the lack of morals. They support everything EVIL, which contradicts your claim to be a Christian!!!! Christians don't support abortion, or homosexuality. We can't. IF you knew the Bible you talk about, you'd KNOW it.
