My name is Mary Katherine, and I reside in the state of Ohio. I am a registered Republican. I grew up in a small town with very strict parents, attend church every Sunday, and have generally tried to live a good and decent life. I have been married for 15 years, have 3 children, and I am a stay at home mother. I am personally opposed to abortion, I believe in small government, and I cheered when welfare was overhauled. I am personally opposed to gay marriage, and I deeply believe this country needs to do more about the divorce rate in this country. My father was a steel worker who didn't miss a day of work in 35 years. My mother was a housewife. I still visit them regularly even though they live 5 hours away from me.
I think if you met me on the street or at the supermarket we would probably like each other.
However, everyone on this board hates my guts. I voted for John Kerry, so, therefore, according to you, I am a pig with no values.
I come here, desperately trying to understand why that is.
If you haven't stopped reading by now, maybe I could explain the reasons for my vote.
I am a fiscal conservative. I find W's reckless spending troubling.
I believe in religious freedom in this country. So therefore, just because I personally oppose abortion, how can I expect every American who does not share my faith to abide by that as well?
I believe in the Constitution. Therefore, even though I oppose gay marriage, if the constitution affords gay Americans certain rights, who am I to deny them?
Finally, I do not believe the war in Iraq was executed in the appropriate way. I do not support it in its current form.
So there it is. You all hate me for only one reason - the vote I placed on November 2nd. My only hope is that someday, somehow, you could all have a little less hate for those who don't share your beliefs. Thank you for reading this.
We keep jerking the chain, but the light does not come on...

One of two possibilities here:
1)You know exactly what you are doing, and that means you are a trouble-maker, eager to incite and foment whatever disturbance you can, just because you hate people, or maybe you hate yourself.
2)You are incredibly ignorant, and think your right to speak is more along the lines of having a right not to be criticized.
So, if 1), you are a skunk, or 2) you are pitiful.
My money's on #1. Nobody is stupid enough to walk into a room full of patriots and express love for a traitor.
MaryKatherine musta dun it! ;)
I have several problems with your post. First,(and it is not unique to you) this is a forum for commenting on the news and sharing ideas. This is not simply your personal soapbox for venting your "feelings". Anyone who has treated FR as such is treated, quite appropriately, with derision and some damn humorous replies. If you had truly monitorred this site, you would have known that.
What truly disturbs me about your post is the frightening passivity you espouse. You claim to be a church going mother of three, but you seem perfectly willing to allow your children to grow up in a world where abortion and gay marriage are the norm. If you truly cared, you would recognize that both of these issues are not normal, but were made legal by an activist judiciary. You should also feel some sort of inclination to be angered by this and want to change them. As far as Iraq is concerned, let me ask you this; when is the last time you or your family were attacked by a terrorist? What's that? Never. Of course not, because you had a president willing to make the tough decisions to prevent that from happening. You, on the other hand, are not capable of making any kind of decision. You are perfectly willing to let the government decide what is right. If they want to legalize what is morally wrong, or give aid an comfort to our enemie, that's OK by you. Sorry kids, you'll just have to accept it. That's a disgraceful attitude and you deserve derision for that, as well.
On the other hand, you might just be a troll, in which case just STFU!
I shudder to think what would happen if a troll controlled spell check!
Maybe nothing as most of them don't know how to spell!
Does that go for murder, too? Don't you realize that abortion IS murder. Or is there no value on the price of a child?
I agree that you are probably not sincere and just looking for a fight. You may want to go to DemocraticUnderground.com. There, you might find a group who has more in common with your views. You wont have to be defensive.
Look, Mrs. I want to explain to you what error you have done.
No, wait. She was banned. I don't need to get myself all hyped over this. That's a good thing.
Vanity is defined by Mirriam-Webster's dictionary as something that is empty or valueless.
What's sad is that you can't seem to figure out that you're going to get hammered for coming onto a conservative board and spouting anti-Bush Moore-isms. Look, you don't have to agree with us, but if you honestly think we're so gullible as to just accept your word that you're a concerned "conservative" and not a troll simply out for a good baiting session, then it would have done you well not to bash our favourite president in your first post as a new member.
For Gods sake, why is that so hard to understand? No wonder you voted for Kerry. No offense.
"I am personally opposed to abortion."
Here's the tipoff line that this is a troll from DU.
Hey, I'm secure in my horrilbeness. You're the insecure one.
"I am a fiscal conservative. I find W's reckless spending troubling."
Two words: Big Dig.
