That could work... I really liked the scene where they were fighting the brainwashing, it's hard to remember a scene in Swiftly Tilting Planet that was as effective for me.
Do keep a lookout if you have a Staples, Office Max, or Office Depot in your area. On Sunday mornings they'll have specials that are free or very low cost after rebates. SSQ has gotten some really good deals this way. You literally have to be there when the store opens, though, cause they typically only have a few of any items advertised. He's gotten two or three zip drives for $10 this way, some of them 128K and I think he got a 256K once for little $.
I have that song in my head now.
Not the pop song - the Irving Berlin one.
Gah...badly stuck.
I ALWAYS check pockets! I got tired of having to re-do laundry after tissues were left in pockets and disintegrated all over dark clothes. Grrr.
Yep, that's how I learned my lesson, too.
That...and I believe I also had a ballpoint pen episode. Once.
I've learned. I can be taught! ;-)
Didn't mean 128K, meant 128mb. I R ignorant about such things, I just repeat what I've heard, incorrectly, it seems. ;o)
Yes, but if you do it with style and carry a clipboard, everyone will think you're an authority!
Heh, a 128k stick wouldn't be much good, would it?
Gots the BeeGees blaring away on the radio. We're having nostalgia
I'm listening to talk radio. Just heard one of the RINO Senators who pushed the tax increase thru say this about the proposal to complete the eliminatin of the car tax. This is an exact quote from the "distinguished" Senator.
"It's an election year. You may hear...some more spewing...that...type...of...uh....stuff...."
Distinguished retiree.
I've given up Talk Radio for Lent. Too much frothing at the mouth, especially Michael Savage.
...and Epiphany, and Easter, and Pentecost, and Advent, and Christmas.

Ready for burnin' at the stake suh!
First, the pricing on all three items are the same as Uncle Sam gets, for the same mil-spec packaged items. The price on all three items are $30-$40 below the best discount street prices. My guess is, we're getting them at a below-wholesale price.
Second, there is no minimum order quantity, although if we buy more than $35 at a time, we get free shipping.
Finally, I goofed, and posted a wrong BK&T model. The two government models are these:
The second item is the BK3 "tac tool". It was developed for the FBI to open up things that don't want to open. It's a pry bar, knife, saw, and "gut hook". It can be considered a rescue tool, which is why I've kept one in my Jimmy, slipped between the seat cushion and console.
The "problem", as I see it, is determining who gets a BK2 or BK3. The short BK2 is less flashy than the CQB1/CQB3. It's appropriate for any troop that doesn't spend his time behind a desk.
My own suggestion is we offer the BK2 to anyone who sends us a return note, email, etc. Or if someone knows the GI in question can use it in his job.
Comments are welcome, because I'm not sure how we handle this sudden flood of "wealth".
I like the second one there.
I'd been looking for one when I was in uniform but couldn't find one.
Now I'm out, and honestly don't have much of a use for it now.
*grrr*
MP's, and Infantry types can use the BK3.
The prybar and hook deal is useful for alot of things.
Artillery could use it, but since they don't run across bad guys too often, not sure as it would do 'the most good' there, that'd be a personal call on your part I guess.
The BK2 looks good as a general purpose every day tool.
Rope, twine, MRE bags, paper, fabric, generally every day field use item.
I don't know any soldiers out in the field anymore, most of the people I knew are scattered to the wind these days and it's hard to keep track of them now.
Any good?
One of my sister's Finnish friends joked that during his year of mandatory mil-serv* he carried a rifle in 7.63mm...originally 7.62 but very shot-out...the rounds didn't quite rattle around on the way out...
